The bottom screen on my 3DS left marks on the top screen, They are visible and annoying. What can I do about it? Does Nintendo repair that? Also, would they still repair it if I have gotten the Flashcart error in the past?

You can do one of two things - try to buff them off or replace the screen. Early 3DS'es have an issue with the bumpers not giving enough space for the top screen which leads to scratching - I have a 3DS that suffers from this problem as well. You just have to use a screen protector on the top screen and perhaps put a soft cloth on the bottom part of the system to prevent the bottom half from scratching the top half again. Nintendo does repair it, but chances are you'll pay a hefty amount for a fix you can perform yourself cheaply.

Is it under warranty? When I sent my 3DS XL in for a malfunctioning circle pad, I think they replaced the plastic over the top screen as well (and I had about 70 hours of "Alex Rider Stormbreaker", and a few Flashcart errors, so I don't think they can really get you for DS flash carts)

buy these little rubber buttons at walmart

and put them on the top screen upper right and let positions as so and that problem will stop. ASAP.

These do what they designers failed to do. But does not remove the lines already there. They make them in differnet sizes, they're less than $2.00 USD.

Clever. I like the way you think. :yay:

As for removing the lines, consider trying DISPLEX. It won't cost you a fortune and it just might help if applied and used correctly.

I've read reviews of all sorts of scratch repair solutions that say it can adversely affect the displays because of how they are designed for 3D. I have the lines but don't want to make things worse by attempting it myself. A very poor oversight by Nintendo that could have been avoided easily.

You can do one of two things - try to buff them off or replace the screen.
replacing the 'screen' is quite simple to do, it's not even the screen, it is just a layer of plastic that is stuck on over the actual screen and speakers.
using something to heat up the glue, like a hairdryer etc, you can pop off the old one (it doesn't matter if you don't heat it up enough for a clean removal and it cracks because you will throw it away anyway) - and then just buy this and put it on.

I actually had the idea about those bumpers when I first heard about the problem. Thats when the first 3ds was released... when they first came out. At the time I lived so far from a store (2 hours) that I didn't bother and made something myself at home from silicone (flexible), These work better.

I never posted it since so much time had past and I figured so few cared at the point. I had actually first noticed a similar problem when I attempted a shell replacement on the first DS lite I owned. That's when I found out what the rubber pieces (small strips) that rest on either side of the top screens [upper and lower shell] were for... Since there were no visible lines though, the reasoning was no so.... visible...

PS make sure that left hand button is well up in the right hand corner other wise it could press on the D pad when the lid closes. There is a smaller size but I wasn't sure if that would have done the job, they're hard to judge being clear and almost invisible to the naked eye, these did the job nicely.

Actually some screen protectors can "mend" the scratched screen problem. I've got Zagg screen protectors on my 3DS (got the protector very cheap) and they make the previously visible problem nonexistent. Only problem with Zagg protectors are the costs compared to eBay or other places.

Also syfyTy great use of cheap cupboard door bumpers. I'd recommend this method too, since it removes the only reason the scratching exists in the first place.

There is some commercial compounds that do that job, that professional auto painters use, or there's a cheap kit that Turtle Wax sells to 'Restore the Luster' to your Headlights" (yeah I know, right? I'll bet I know what you're thinking... you should be ashamed.. read my sig!) It's meant to clarify the fading dull glass, it's a cream with micro bead abrasion but I would be very leary on a surface that smooth of doing more damage. I would at least try it on a fairly smooth clear plastic surface first before trying it out no your 3ds top screen, even if it is old(er) and replaceable. Be careful. He's right though, many clear covers/coats/protective sheets would hide it well too

Just make sure you get those 'Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers".. and stop those skid marks.

I mean. All I ask was for people to see if ONE, SINGLE website is working properly in edge. 1000 people see it but cant be bothered at all

@RedColoredStars, I did read the last sentence in your post by the way. Maybe try changing the privacy settings in your browser to standard if that works.

Thing is , the videos work fine in the Edge Dev and Canary builds. But whatever the fix they made was, has never been pushed to Beta or Stable builds. Its been that way for as far back as I tested. Which was Edge 84. They are on 125 now.

@RedColoredStars, Yeah, and I was in quite a mood at that time. I would consider choosing Firefox or Opera instead, been using Firefox for over 7 years now than Chrome.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Tried contacting Nintendo to see if they can reach out to MS about it. But Nintendo said the videos are working fine. Without enough people saying no, they don't work fine, it will never get fixed.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
I have Firefox and used it for many years. But Edge runs noticible faster on my pc at both opening and loading pages.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't think Nintendo will know anything about troubleshooting Edge. They mostly do technical support regarding their console family.

  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Right. But they could create a ticket that gets forwarded to the proper team. I think Nintendo would care that their videos aren't working on a major borwser.
