Rather than just listing out some games that no one has publicly announced working on, here's one where it appears a hacker is already working on, and a Japanese speaker is needed.

They're looking for help with someone proficient in Japanese for help replacing the script of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity with some English text, which already exists in the form of a guide.

But I dunno if you've seen this already, or are already too busy working on Ninokuni, Digimon, or something else.

it's a pc visual novel called Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (in english Rumbling Hearts)
It has been picked up and dropped by teams over and over which is a real shame...i really wish that such a great piece of art for it's kind to be able to be played without studying jap

If anyone knows someone who is Japanese-fluent and would be willing to help us out it would be greatly appreciated if you pointed them our way.

Our translation project is in my signature. If we got someone on board to help us translate, we could get this game out a lot sooner.

Well, it's nice to have a translator asking what would I like to have translated, and I have some suggestions.

Persona 2 - Eternal Punishment: Atlus' worst douchery: Doing the exact opposite of what they did on the PSX. That means that we got Innocent Sin (Which didn't see the West for the PSX) in english but not Eternal Punishment (Which did see a badly translated version on PSX).

Digimon Re: Digitize: Uh... Why not? I'm not a Digimon fan, but Namco Bandai owes us some respect on the PSP. Also, there's the 3DS version, and the 3DS already has its piracy, so... why not try the first 3DS translation?

Ys Vs. Sora no Kiseki or something like that: I am a Ys fan. It's a shame that this game didn't see the light of the West. Do it, please.

.Hack//Link: Yeah, this one needs heavy working, ya know.

You see, the PSP scene still has a hell lotta things to mess around.

Keep in mind, this is a translator who translates a txt file.
He needs someone to extract that txt file for him, and insert it back (the insertion part is impossible on 3DS fyi).
And then fix how English appears with programming and all.
Are YOU that skilled someone? If not, please take a look at the OP. You're dropping these suggestions almost like afterthoughts (you don't even seem like you are genuinely interested or considerate of the hardships: Do the game romhacking all on your own. Because I heard of it in passing and can't be bothered to check it up. Uh uh, that company is shameful, you must do something about it. Oh, and hack the 3DS. like, really??) without saying "hacker X for game Y needs script translator, why not join him"

you know, something like this:

Doesn't seem like Merkabah is replying to this thread either, if anyone has noticed.

I gotta admit I'm more of a spectator for the moment, and even got as far as get carried away and forgetting that he's not a programmer himself.

Also, seems like he's into Ni No Kuni now, so there's no need for him to search onto something at the moment...

That doesn't necessarily means you can't contact him if you know of any teams needing translators. Sometimes things fall in place neatly; but the problem of these threads is that they can easily devolve into a mess of rom-hacking requests for a translator, and we have had a bunch scared away because of that.
The solution would be a bit more organisation for requests and lists of translated games in the PSP section, much like in the DS one.

I agree with that. A list of translations to do, translations on course and completed translations would help quite a lot.
I've thought about doing that, but after the "Type-0 incident" exposing so many projects in public doesn't seem a good idea.

Also, some teams just don't like to draw crowds. We can guess why...

Nah. That translation was C&D'ed because of copyrighted material included, besides the numerous other drama/falling out between the lead and SE and the translators.
Fan-translations generally aren't subjected because it's a patch containing the modifications, not a part of an iso, with the sole exception of 7th Dragon DS which was indeed C&D'ed by Sega back in 2009 (didn't prevent other people from undertaking and finishing that translation)

We can classify the risky wip translations (the ones with PS Vita/3DS/whatever ports) as "inactive" or "on hiatus" to minimize the risk.
The idea is to give people here a place to:

1/ Post their "please translate PSP game X for me" but in a format that's far cleaner and elaborate, presenting the game, the permise etc etc
As well as a wish list. So that they're not posted everywhere and anywhere.
2/ Mark the difficult-to-translate games (badly coded, encrypted, etc)
3/ Post a list of projects, even the inactive or stalled ones, so that they're not asked for over and over.
