Hacking Animal Crossing Update

Hi, after I launched Animal Crossing with Gateway, and I'm in the main menu, there are three options: new game - move - update. When I try to update I get a black screen and I have to turn off the console. Is there another way to update? Is it an important update? Can I play online without it? It seems that it isn't an important update like Mario Kart's one, but I want to be sure before start playing since I don't want to throw away several hours.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope I was clear enough.

I don't know why you're receiving a black screen, but you do not need it to be able to play online.

not sure if the update is required to play online, but you cannot get updates as eshop doesn't work on 7.2 atm

Don't you receive a black screen when trying to update? Could be fault of my bad internet connection? However, what does this update contain?

I don't think is an e-shop update, as I don't get any prompt message when I start the game, like with Mario Kart update.

iirc there's no updates for Animal Crossing.

Have you updated through E-shop? In this case it is an e-shop update and the only thing I can do is wait Gateway update so I can acces E-shop...

I guess its connecting to Nintendo Servers and cause your game is not legit it black screens it.
Or maybe the fault is on Gateways site, maybe some kind of bug. Report it i guess?

Could be many reasons but the main thing that you need to know is that you don't need any kind of update for the game to play it online, cause the game doesn't have any update.

Hello everybody !

Since June, has anybody found the use of this update entry in Animal Crossing menu ?

I do not have any blackscreen, but the same update screen for the firmware update... even with the latest on the emuNAND. So I prefered to switch off the console just in time. That was scary. ^^;

there has been a 1.1 update for the jp version of animal crossing for well over a year, that patches an item duplication bug, but i guess you would have said you were on the japanese version if you were.

Nope, I am on an european version.

This entry is intriguing. This seems to be a firmware update shortcut. Probably no connection to update the game itself or via eShop...

Or the game does not detect that my emuNAND is on latest version, and try to update the sysNAND.
