Hi everyone! The lower screen on my ds lite was scratched a lot by official Nintendo stylus. Recently I got a 3ds xl and I thought that the problem still remains so I want to get an alternative (maybe a soft tip) stylus to prevent the scratches. I don't want to get a screen protector. Maybe anyone found a good alternative stylus that doesn't leave scratches? Please share your experiences.

You could make a stylus I made my own I gave it a round tip instead of the tips on official stylus.

Screen protectors are made to get scratchy and protect your screen ;p
That and their cheaper then stylusses.
This.

Also, resistive touchscreens need pokes from plastic sticks. If you keep using the same one it will consume and develop a sharper tip. I had to change two when I still had a DS and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games.

the official ones have round tips so I dunno what the problem is

It does happen over time (with the ds it did anyway) perhaps changeing stylus every so often will help. The soft tip does sound like a good idea tho....

i had used cotton swabs when i didnt had a stylus. they are great for the job but wear out quickly... you will use like 1 cotton swab every 2 days

Why not use a pencil?

In all seriousness, you won't find a good stylus to use that doesn't have the plastic tip. just get a screen protector if you're worried. I'd personally recommend a stylus like the DSi XL has since its more comfortable on your hands.

This is like, the saddest, and most innocent thing I've ever read.

@-OP...Stylus' are so cheap and within reach if you just invest in a multi-pack of them to have for the future.

As for not wanting to use a screen protector.....why? The purpose of it is in the name. "Protector". If you're worried about scratching your screen, wouldn't you want to PROTECT it? So many online retailers have bundled listings where you can get 3+ screen protectors with an included stylus and vice versa. For cheap.

i would like to get an explanation on why it is sad? if this is the most sad thing you ever read before bad news for you..

Because using a cotton swab is the most desperate, and poorest attempt at getting the job done. And the fact you had to give a time-span of when to replace said cotton swab, implying anyone else is going to use that method, just seems sad because you must've had a lot of experience doing it. When a cheap pack of stylus' are the same price as a box of cotton swabs.

I use one of these:

The Infernape one, to be exact. They cost *whole £1* ($1.70) and come in "blind Pokeballs".

They're very comfortable and cost less than a can of coke - you'd have to be an ultra-cheapskate to use a cotton swab instead.

Those are great, any idea where I could grab some online?
