Just wait for someone with usb mod so they can restore their nand if anything happens xD

ED: inb4 nintendo applies a sneak update that updates the fpga of the gateway and bricks it or makes it so the launcher doesn't recognize it as a gateway LOL
There's no need for a USB mod. The firmware is written to the SD card when in emuNAND. I tried 7.2 as well (I have a USB mod, but did not need it). I reverted back to 7.1 with emuNAND tool. No e-shop either way, but at least system settings work on 7.1. Not to mention you do not need to update to play online.

I predict every online game will have an update coming then. I actually have a USB mod, so I'm gonna dump my 4.5, overwrite my emu to the real, get the stuff I missed, then go back. I'll let y'all know if it works.

It shouldn't work as the items you download will be encrypted with keys that your 4.5 won't be able to decrypt when you downgrade. However, chances are that you've already started the process by the time you read this, so do report back your findings.

Oh, so you think Nintendo may have updated all the game patches to 7.0 keys? That's entirely possible. But I'll report back.

Status update: Tried writing back through the cord, but got an error. So I'm gonna try doing a read and write again. If not, this might take longer as I'll actually have to update the on board 4.5 to 7.2, instead of transplanted 7.1 to 7.2.

could somebody explain why 7.x keys are so hard to overcome?

Because after 4.5 Nintendo encrypted new keys into there firmware closing the exploit which is complete kernel access. So basically eveyrhting gateway used to exploit the 3ds in 4.5 is patched up, and before u ask if everything is patched up why can we play games that require 7.0+ firmware to play. The simple answer is the games where made with 4.5-6.0+ SDK which still uses the keys gateway uses for the exploit.

Anyone have a list of games that need an update via e-shop. I have the MK7 one. I may try this tomorrow, if b17bomber's equipment fails.

Status update. Am currently writing my emunand backup onboard to the 3DS. So it was just a minor isssue. Will let you know if it boots.

EDIT: Written successfully to actual NAND, has the extra data that I did on emunand and such. Going to update to 7.2 now.

so, if gw ever supports 7.x encryption theres a high chance they become compatible with 7.x consoles?

Good. Any more verification from some other users? I have a DSTwo.

DSTWO works, upgraded my 3DS XL's firmware with the DSTWO inserted and I can confirm its still working, this updated only added something to the parental controls, not much was changed (by not much I meant nothing)

it shouldn't work, since the system you want to use the data on does not have the tickets/whatever for it.
just how if you download dlc/updates etc, say in emunand, then check the app data stuff in the real system nand, the dlc/updates will get deleted because the real nand does not recongize them, because they are not authenticated (or something like that) even though it is on the same console.

not, it's different, gateway might get past the 7.x stuff sure, but still, the 'door' to hack the system was at 4.5, and still will be.
if gateway find a new 'door', and we can load gateway or something similar FROM 7.x firmwares, then we won't have to worry about the encryption :) but that is unlikely soon

Right, but that's as long as if you don't check on it in real nand? Anyway, I got the updates, and I'm reading the 7.2 back to my hard drive, and will splice it in as the new emunand, and see what happens. If not, that's okay.

he is doing it a different way, his system will indeed have the relevant tickets, but the solution is not for the general user, basically he is flashing his emunand to the system getting stuff then flashing it back to the SD and restoring to 4.x

its pretty much the same deal as how emunand worked anyway, the tickets where always missing on system nand as long as he dumps the 7.2 nand with them installed and has the content on the SD card it should be fine

oh, flashing the newly updated (and currently broken-ish) 7.2 emunand to the system, so that eshop will work (hopefully), and then restore it back to emunand, so the downloaded updates will work. very nice idea! sorry i misunderstood :) thanks

Is it just me or is the eshop look somewhat different in this update? It looks brighter, faster and Ui looks update ( same design ). Is it possible to update the color etc through a fw update?

The eshop does indeed work. I'm reverting the on board nand back and going to overwrite emu now.

sure, nintendo could do whatever they wanted basically :)
i hate how you can't exit the eshop until all the pictures etc have loaded, sometimes my internet is slow, and it will be a minute before i can exit to home... i don't know why they do it...
