With the exception of possibly the MT Card (seeing as they have mulitrom support, but no homebrew **yet**) is it safe to say that the clone cards are dead in the water at this point?
The Gateway team obviously have their own programmer/s that have done a fantastic job thus far preventing any other team of reproducing what they have with the v2.0 update.

the clone carts can't update the FPGA....so pretty much yeah, if they actually had their own coders they could of probably added homebrew and eshop support, but not multi-rom without an FPGA update....but they don't so they almost certainly won't

Old clone cards will be replaced by new clone cards in due time, anyone expecting the flashcart market to stay in its current state with two competitors is delusional. ;)
Having an updatable FPGA is a no-brainer in flash carts... the cloners were just being cheap.
Incorrect. Releasing a criminally flawed product allows for releasing an
"upgraded version" later down the line, possibly under a different name. You can charge the user several times for the exact same thing.

Actually, from what I understood, the MT card FPGA is updatable through USB. I don't own one of those so I could be wrong though.
The other existing cards sure can't be updated.

Yeah I meant the first wave....some people still believe MT is not a clone and get very offended at the mere suggestion of such :P

The future of clone cards is the same hole the missing ET cartridges were dug out of. That is how their strategy for charging the user multiple times over works.
