Yup, just download them from the eshop
make sure the rom region matches the eshop region

To my knowledge, when you select a ROM that has a patch in the eShop, your 3DS will notify you of that patch, and will reroute you to its download page. Or at least that's what it did for me when I played Mario and Luigi: Dream Team for the first time.

!!HELP REQUEST!!

Hey guys, I come here in search for help.

My R4i 3DS Gold isn't working on my 3DS. It comes up with the Error has occurred screen when I try to use it. This has baffled me as I am running 7.1.0-16E and the latest kernel on http://www.r4ids.cn/ advertises that it supports this version of my 3DS.
I have updated the kernel, it still doesn't work. I have also tried downloading the R4i Patch which is directly under the download for the latest kernel. And I have updated it on my DS Lite. When I did this I ran the updater on my DS Lite and the update confirmed as successful. Still no dice. (Though to be fair, I did see some weird stuff about having to remove the card, put it back in, and then do the update? I did that and it failed, i left it in and it succeeded. I'm not sure what that's about.)

So now I'm out of ideas. I can still play the R4i 3DS Gold on the DS Lite, however the DS lite cannot read the r4 well and will sometimes think the card is removed, which sucks. So I would much prefer to play it on my nice working 3DS XL. Can anybody help me? Thank you in advance.

Oh, and I'm assuming it is an R4i 3DS Gold because it says that it is 3DS compatible on the front of the card and the website at the bottom leads to the website mentioned above.

I thought I might post my question here as well considering its related to the topic and not covered in the FAQ.

If I dump my retail games onto my gateway cartridge will my saves still be there? The answer to this will decide whether or not I purchase a flashcart.

Thanks in advance guys!

no

Well, that's a shame. Thanks for the quick reply though.

Is there any other methods available for doing this?
taking the saves from a cart and using them on gateway? no, not really, but in the future there might be :)
surely you don't want to only play the games you already have right? :)

I have 26 games I've already bought, And I play a few of them too often to just give up on/ start a new save. And having to still bring multiple carts with me wherever I go would ruin the point of having one single cartridge for convenience. Not really buying it for piracy like I did with the R4 for DS.

not sure if you already got this sorted but look at this thread

Just to confirm, the current Gateway does support multi ROM but it's still not region free, correct? I'm specifically interested in playing Japanese backups on US 3DS

<Question>

I've searched and can't find an answer to this question. Hopefully you guys can help me get a straight answer.

I have a r4i Gold that I used to use for playing DS backups on my 3DS. It worked great. In order to play 3ds backups I purchased a gateway3ds. It also has worked great and love the updates coming from that camp. I wanted to play a DS game the other day and put my r4i Gold into the 3ds but it won't load. It doesn't load in normal or gateway mode. Is there anyway to get my r4i Gold to work? I don't want use the blue gateway card to play DS games because it fails if I load more than a couple of games on it.

using the r4 card should work in system nand, you can copy the Gateway installer to the r4 card and use it as the blue card.........just make sure your not in emunand when trying to run it

Any ideas why it doesn't start? It doesn't matter what files I have loaded on it. It no longer starts. I thought maybe the gateway installer messed it up or something.

are you trying to launch it in gateway mode? completely turn the 3ds off and restart it then see if it works(don't go into the DS profile or anything), if not try it in another 3ds, you could also try a system format and see if that helps, but nothing that gateway does would really stop it working

Got a minor problem here :
Each rom i insert into the MicroSD card it shows on the osd on the last place which alphabetically is wrong and inconvenient :unsure: ..
any solution except copying all of my roms to the computer and then onto the card again ?

I've tried it on both gateway mode and normal nand mode. I don't have another 3ds to try it on. I'll keep fussing with it. Thanks.

guys is the r4i 3ds out of updates? it looks like they cant copy from gateways 3ds anymore... I just wasted money on this sht{-.-}
