With the rise of a new generation, there are always remarkable changes in games, from obvious changes like graphics to changes like better AI, bigger maps, number of NPCs and many others.

This generation has just arrived, and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg, but we can already see the diffference in multiplatform games. F
or that reason I decided to post some comparissons between multiplatform games on PS4 and on Last Gen.

Madden 25:

Take a look at how well the audience looks on PS4 version,
on X360 it just seem blurred and washed, while PS4 audience seem much more vivid.
X360 grass look just like a carpet, while you can see every leaf of the grass on PS4 version like it's suposed to be.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

NBA 2K14:

Tomb Raider:

Battlefield 4:

The trailer start already shows an impacting difference, the light bends so perfect with the water,
the bubbles floating everywhere, it all makes PS4 version look so natural, it makes PS3 water look just fake.
The lighting and detail of the models are on two complete different rent levels when comparing PS4 and Ps3 version.
Take a look at the gun, the water on that boat part, the road, the reflection of the floor and wet areas,

Although this generation gap is lesser than it's previous, we can still see a clear evolution and I hope these videos show to it you.

This is cool but not surprise me so much. I belive who the real advance comes when a system can release a game who cant be ported to the earlier generation keeping the same game experience.

I play tomb rider in both systems same experience. Only better graphics.... Sorry sony, you will need do something i cant imagine running on ps3.

PS4 was released in late 2013, it's only natural developers are still getting used to it,
I guess in 3 years we will already be seeing games taking a lot more of what PS4 can offer,
making stuff we couldn't see on PS3/X360.

Just take a look at how were early PS3 games and late PS3 games,
the difference is really remarkable.
If you want I can show some screenshots.

Its not my point. If they make gta V for ps2 for example it will be another game. The game experience will be diferent. Because ps2 is not strong enogh to handle with a game on this level. Is really another generation. But now so far I beli e every single game for ps4 can be ported to ps3 losing graphics but keeping the game experience.
Is not a new generation, is only games with better graphics for now.
The new generation will come with the VR glasses.

I mean you play a game without the felling who it could be ported to the earlier generation.
Example: You play castlevania sotn and fell the essence of the game and you know super nes could not give this fluid experience to sotn.

Another example: Do you play samurai shadow to sega saturn and play the super nes version and you know how much was lose.

Im not saying snes is a bad system or dont have wonderful games. Im using this to show the resl diference betwen generations.

Probably the best and most noted instance of what you are referring to is mario 64. Yep I know it is been talked about forever and a day. But it really is the definitive definition of how to commence a new generation of gaming. Something that is completely impossible on the previous generation.

I too agree that VR has the strongest hope of reaching the same distinction.

It's a clear difference, all right. Still, this sort of thing is only impressive if you put it directly next to each other. When actually playing the game, I doubt you'll think the PS4 versions "better" because of better graphics.
I mean...those three star wars enhanced edition movies sort of looked cooler when you compared them to what the original had. But in the end, it was not like those movies were better than the originals. And those differences were pretty huge.

But then again, in games it's mostly about the things that keep you IN the game. Less glitches and faster loadings DO make for a better gaming experience.
And I agree these cross-platform games are only the tip of the iceberg. From now on, developers won't be restricted to the limitations for last-gen when designing things (that is: once they decided to stop making games for that generation :P ).

But what was that restrictions? Do you really belive ps3 was reached his full potential? The only complex game i think had did this is gta V and I still having doubts.
I will enter the new generation today, i will upgrade my video card. -_-

I don't have a PS3 (or PS4, for that matter), but even if I would, it wouldn't say that much. The thing is that the games inevitably tell you what they CAN achieve on the system. Only the developers know where they had to cut corners to actually achieve that with a proper framerate.

If a game has constant framedrop on a console, it means the game demands more than the hardware can handle,
most games released on these last years on PS3 and X360 had unconstant framerate.
Developers achieved what PS3 was supposed to and even beyond,
it's incredible that it could handle Last of Us and GTA V with such limited hardware.
