Been holding off on the purchase of one for about 5 months now, still waiting for multi-rom support. Got kinda worried about the bricking thing as well.

I've read the flashcart comparison thread, but I can't come to a clear decision just yet. Should I spring for the MT Card? What's that like compared to the Gateway?

Or maybe I should just wait longer and see what developments appear...

What do you all think?

No.

If you were to buy something right now id say MT-card hands down. It has the most features is still supported from what we can tell and doesnt have any bricking code. Gateway has been lying bricking and stringing us along and until they produce some actual results I wouldn't waste your money. Its likely they wont ever update their card again

Stop spreading speculation as facts. The likelihood of any flashcart dev team stopping operations is completely subjective and depends on how one emotionally feels about a team's contributions so far. We don't know what Gateway will or won't do. Period.

OP: The MT-Card does have better support now, but Gateway's promised 2.0 update looks promising from what the team have teased so far.

Have they been stringing us along? Yeah, for sure. However, they have video proof on their website that they are in fact working on all these features. Is there bricking code present in their b2 firmware? Yes. This is something that to this day I still wholeheartedly disagree with, but I guess I can see their point of view (still disagree with it, though).

To answer your original question, I would say wait it out for a month or two and see where the scene is at that time. Right now, anything can happen.

Thanks to GW it is possible to play excellent games like Yoshi and Kirby not to mention dozens of other superb games :ha: On the other hand many of us feel disappointed about team's misbehaviour. I do not feel like giving you a piece of advice, just wanted to say people from GW are brawlers :tpi: However pathfinder is only one.

I would say give it a few weeks, if gateway still don't turn up with the goods, it may be better to maybe get a MT card if multi-rom is the main feature you want/need

You should buy a Gateway 3DS card ...I don't see the point in buying a clone flash card??
The "bricking thing" is just user stupidity!
Do not listen to this guy. The bricking in b2 is NOT user stupidity and is a legitimate bug that can happen and wreck your 3DS. Also, at this moment the MT card has more features and does not have the bricking issue, but this may change later.

I don't know if you're serious or just trolling.
If your 3DS just bricked right in front of you then I would really want to be at your side just to see your face.
The bricking code is real and it has been proven that way. Deal with it.

Brief moment of levity aside. If you aren't the patient type, go for the MT card. Its the most feature packed card there is right now. If you can wait, hold out for couple of weeks (maybe months) to see what is going on with GW. On GW's side, there is no end in sight.

Yes get one, they are 110% fantastic and worth it, I love both of mine!. As long as you don't do a diagnostic check you should be OK also make sure you buy from a reputable reseller don't buy on the cheap!!! If your going to buy a 3DS card anyway then get a Gateway don't buy an MT or R4i etc.. m8, I suggest buy a Gateway the Multirom support will be coming anytime soon I would of thought don't worry, it will be worth all the wait! :)

I bought both of mine from teensy.co.uk on 2.0b2 CFW and never had an issue with either 3DS or 3DS XL. It was a well worthy purchase in my opinion :)

Do not listen to those who speak based on their speculations. I'd recommend the same thing as IronClouds, wait a little while to see Gateway's 2.0 update. If it doesn't come and/or doesnt satisfy you, you can always buy a MT-Card. Don't hurry now and regret later.

Please don't just recommend known dangerous software to people because "it should be okay" or because you never had problems yourself, unless you plan to take responsibility if it DOES break.

The launcher software for MT-Card is clearly a direct rip off of Gateway. The only difference is that the Diagnostic Tools are disabled. The only reason they would do this is because they have tested Diagnostics on the MT-Card and it is still triggering the Bricking Issue. There is no other reason I can think if that they would have disabled it if they were able to prevent Diagnostics from triggering Bricks.

Since Diagnostics is the only known repeatable way to trigger Bricking, if MT-Card were unable to fix it, then there is no way in hell they were able to fix it being triggered outside of Diagnostics. It is nearly impossible to fix a bug that you can not reliably trigger even you had access to the source code. Claiming that MT-Card did so with nothing but the compiled launcher is just preposterous.

This said, as far as I can tell, Gateway triggering the Bricking Issue without the user running Diagnostics has only been confirmed in one case over the past 3 months since Gateway 2.02b was released. And this report has only come to light this past week. Consider the fact that it has only been a little over a week since the MT-Card 1.1 update has been released and I would say it is much too early to pronounce that MT-Card is completely free of the Bricking Issue. I would go so far as to say that anybody openly declaring that MT-Card is brick free is outright spreading misinformation and a false sense of security.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that MT-Card has done to protect its users from the Bricking Issue is removing the Diagnostics a Tools.

If your main concern is the risk if bricking, your best bet is to use Gateway in 2.0b1 mode.

Like it or not, Gateway is the original author of all the 3DS Cart Launcher software and if you hold to the belief that they intentionally Brick consoles of clones that steal their software, then it only stands to reason that you should believe that they will continue to try to do so in their future updates. There is even the risk that they will use more sophisticated methods that will make it much harder for the clone teams to detect until it is too late or that will be impossible to repair.

And before anyone says MT-Card authored their own launcher software and points to multirom as proof, be aware that MT-Card itself has said that their multirom feature is a hardware solution and does not rely on the launcher software to work.

No, without 2.0 it's a ripoff. When/if that releases and it doesn't brick consoles then go ahead. Right now I wouldn't buy any cart. just buy a 3ds 4.5 and wait as those might be impossible to find sooner than later.

consider that there is no guarantee that 2.0 ever releases, so don't buy it based on a empty promise from some shady company. insert showmethereceipts.gif here.
