Today I was googling some Nintendo news and found this o.O

http://www.product-reviews.net/2014/01/21/nintendo-wii-u-successor-specs-not-a-stretch/

I don't believe this. but what do you think about it?
There is a Wii U successor coming, but it's not going to be released anytime soon. Iwata specifically mentioned that the handheld and home console hardware divisions are being merged in order to work on a future platforms which will have a common OS, development environment and software.

The specs mentioned in the article you linked are possible, but at this point in time bogus.

I quote:
"As you might already know from some newspaper reports, we will reorganize our development divisions next month for the first time in nine years. Two divisions which have independently developed handheld devices and home consoles will be united to form the Integrated Research & Development Division, which will be headed by Genyo Takeda, Senior Managing Director.

Last year we also started a project to integrate the architecture for our future platforms. What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine. What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable, and operating systems and their build-in applications more portable, regardless of form factor or performance of each platform. They will also work to avoid software lineup shortages or software development delays which tend to happen just after the launch of new hardware.

Some time ago it was technologically impossible to have the same architecture for handheld devices and home consoles and what we did was therefore reasonable. Although it has not been long since we began to integrate the architecture and this will have no short-term result, we believe that it will provide a great benefit to our platform business in the long run."

Aren't they pretty much always busy with successors to their current consoles? It won't be released any time soon, though. If they did, the consumer's trust in their hardware would go poof.

This would be less like pulling the plug on a dying man and more like burning down the whole hospital around him.

Despite the Wii U's predicament, Nintendo's not going to just out and drop support for the console and immediately move on to the next one. They'd be practically pissing their money away (well, more so than they are now), and demonstrating to publishers + customers that you won't even support your own products is not going to inspire much in the way of trust. Plus, the PS4 and Xbox One will have established enough dominance anyway that Nintendo would still be locked out.

There'll be a successor, but Nintendo's going to have to ride the Wii U out until the end of the generation. Hopefully they can use that time to mull over their mistakes and design something people will be interested in buying the next time around.

CableCARD. And coaxial input?

Who the f*** would believe a game console to incorporate CableCARD? I'd believe it if it was some off-spin weird crap for the Japanese market à la Panasonic Q (GameCube + DVD player). Even Xbox One that focuses on the living room experience more than on games has ONLY a single HDMI input for your other devices. No CableCARD. C'mon.

EDIT: Oh, and Holographic Versatile Disc. Yes, it's been in development for long, but it's definitely not production ready yet. I'm sure still in 5 years it's not feasible to utilize HVD. Besides, Nintendo has always been behind with optical media. When PlayStation 2 used regular DVDs, Nintendo used miniDVDs. When PlayStation 3 used Blu-ray, Nintendo just got around to regular DVDs (with Wii specific formatting). Wii U optical discs aren't Blu-ray, though they have some similar tech in them. I'd believe Nintendo would next go for Blu-ray, not HVD. Also, optical discs won't be around for too long. It'd be plain stupid to invest in such tech in the long run. Everything is going digital.

I hope that it is true because I do not have Wii U. I had one temporarily then returned it to Wal-Mart for a full refund. Now, read this made a right decision for me to returned Wii U a months ago. I want to wait. I am fine with PS3 for now. :)

Whatever this Fusion thing is all about, fake or not, I do believe N is working on the Wii U successor right now. Wasn't PS4 being worked on as early as 2008? I even recall reading stuff about PlayStation Orbis way back even before the first slim PS3.

Nintendo might surprise us and bring out an enhanced Wii U alongside an enhanced 3DS, both with similar architecture while retaining compatibility with previous games. I think BC is crucial for Nintendo. It's actually the only reason why I bought a Wii U because I never owned a Wii and wanted to play games like Skyward Sword and Xenoblade. I also don't see them dropping the Wii U GamePad so quickly, much like Wiimotes are still utilized by modern games (in some situations even better than the GamePad, e.g. Pikmin 3 in my opinion).

All said and done, the specs listed are definitely not final. I also don't believe Nintendo is making a hybrid set top box and gaming machine. Such products rarely fare well, e.g. Sony PSX (NOT original PS1, but the PVR with PS2) and the Panasonic Q, both Japan-only products, were very short-lived. I can see Nintendo doing something similar to the Xbox One, having an HDMI input on the console to connect a set top box. In fact it'd make perfect sense to make TVii more of a must-have feature than just a gimmick (think streaming content from a set top box or even Blu-ray player via HDMI to the Wii U GamePad).

Is that a good idea ?
Seems like messing with the 3DS (which is doing well) is a bad idea.

Next generation platforms. After the WiiU and the 3DS. ;)

I know that !
They are planning a common OS for the two.
What if that ends up being an unhappy compromise of both systems ?
Sounds like Windows 8 situation to me.

Apple has iOS and OSX for a reason. Although iOS and OSX have features in common, they don't have a common OS.

Hopefully not just one machine.

Here is what Apple said about Device Convergence:

But the real question is whether the iPad Pro feature dual iOS (mobile) and OS X (desktop/laptop) modes? 2-years-ago Apple CEO Tim Cook brushed off the idea of hybrid computing devices like the Microsoft Surface.
"I think... anything can be forced to converge," Cook said. "But the problem is that products are about trade-offs, and you begin to make trade-offs to the point where what you have left at the end of the day doesn't please anyone. You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user."
Cook continued by saying that a hybrid user experience is ultimately hampered by ugly concessions.
"You wouldn't want to out these things together because you end up compromising in both and not pleasing either user. Some people will prefer to own both, and that's great too. But to make the compromise of convergence, we're not going to that party," Cook added.

They stated it pretty clearly - they want a common development platform and integrated OS'es, not just one platform altogether - they're still planning to make both handheld consoles and home consoles, they just want them to run somewhat cross-platform software.

All in all I believe these documents are false. The device they are talking about looks and feels a lot like a Wii U. Only the Client can be used alone, maybe that is something that the Wii U is still going to do later on?
