Not sure what to do

So I bought a DS Lite wanting to play games. I saw that the R trigger was broken and not working. I tried many ways to fix it, like blowing, cleaning, all that; in the end, it didn't work. I am thinking about soldering a new one onto it, but before I do, is there a sure way to make sure I don't break it in the process, or to not do it at all? Are there any games that I like that I can't play on it, or that it plays with difficulty, to see if I should do it or not?

like idrk i js wanna know is there any games that cant be played on the ds lite withouit my r trigger sorry for being so broad

If you have a flashcard running TWiLight Menu++ on it (with nds-bootstrap as the game loader), you can remap one of the other buttons to function as the R trigger without the actual R trigger.
Depending on the game, it may or may not work.
