Hacking gateway question

I have recently bought an r4i card. However this was a mistake. I am now buying a gateway. Does the gateway play normal ds games like the r4i as well or just 3ds games?

Also can games played on gateway be played online?

gateway comes with two cards, red and blue cards. blue card can play ds game just fine, while the red one is used to play 3ds rom.

The Supercard DSTwo is by far the best DS flashcart out there. I recently bought a 3DS (Link to the Past Special Edition) and I am loving the DSTwo.

It has a CPU in it, which enables Game Boy Advance and SNES games to be played as well as many movie formats. It also is less susceptible to being disabled by Nintendo with future updates.

Until 3DS homebrew is unlocked, that is the best overall choice. The only thing you can really do with a Gateway card is load a single backup onto the card and switch regions (at the risk of bricking your console due to Gateway's likely Machinations). Basically, it is almost entirely used for piracy.

mijuu: gateway is making the update 2.0 which will have multirom, support for pokemon XY and animal crossing (of a particular saving method some games have, in general), and other useful things. it should be near completion.

ok, I must admit I didn't see this. still, seeing that there are 3 people on 32 who got the brick with gateway, we can say it's very very unlikely for it to happen (how many thousands of gateway are out there? I think still more than the clones, at least without putting them together), since you can even deliberately corrupt the launcher and remain safe. it's still the best choice.

The only confirmed case (with pics) in elotrolado is leon69s. His checksum was ok and it was a first use (he didn´t even prepare emunand yet). So we don't really know what happened there.

Even still it seems like we may not have seen the end of this, and who is to know what the future will bring, we know now that bricking is a possibility, and because of which, I'm holding on getting a Gateway or anything like it for a long time (if ever, until homebrew is enabled, I honestly don't have much interest in such a thing).

well, then you will never be able to run any kind of executable on the 3DS as long it isn't from nintendo or you coded it yourself. every prebuilt binary could contain nasty surprises.
