Is it not strange, all bricks happened at the same day?

I'm 100% sure they included time related bricking code. And as we know, their hardware diagnostics are not very reliable, the clone detection maybe fails too --> brick, even with the original GW
I can tell disturbing facts about that :
- 04.01.14 : x2 3DS XL consoles sold to a customer there is a week with R4iGold v3.2 + emuNAND 7.1 (installed by myself)
-> One of the 2 consoles bricks Saturday, 11
The customer comes back with the 2 consoles yesterday (13.01.14) and I exchange the bricked console by new one (v3.2 + emuNAND 7.1) and make new installation of the other (v3.2 + emuNAND 7.1 again).
-> After 1 power on and test of "Bravely Default" game, the customer turn of each console and returns home. Once home, when he tries again, the 2 consoles crash just after launching "R4iGold mode". When he restarts them BSOD appears.

- 06.01.14 : x1 3DS XL console sold to a customer (R4iGold v3.2 + emuNAND 7.1 make by me), sent by post, he received it Thuedsay 9 and played only "Luigi's Manson 2" game with it until saturday 11.
-> I contact him by phone today to alert about the RSOD issue and when he tests it in the same time (just switch on) RSOD appears !

I think from saturday, the bricking code started to operate and GW team is under this.

Like the time of PS3 dongle, TrueBlue team has placed malicious code that affects randomly JB-King dongle user by crashing the console HDD.

Ways are the same and I also think they are the same teams (Gateway = TrueBlue).

Now I'm paranoid.
I haven't turned my 3ds on in a while and I certainly don't want to do it now. I used Normmatt's modified launcher to play a game I imported from Europe.
Will swapping the modified launcher with the original be enough to save my ass?

It seems I won't be playing Euro games for a while...

I would rather not have firmware that bricks my $200 console. :ha:

Yeah, but if it really was an issue solely created by the clone card makers it would suck for that to cause the GW team to waste time investiating their code which works fine.

It's good for them because they can state that the clone makers aren't able to do anything good. Basically, the message on their website means "Only use our Firmware".

I know it's ignorance on my part but what the fudge is this error you're all talking about?
What I mean is... As a GW user, is there any chance this bricking error would happen to me (in account that I don't have any of the competing carts)?

I have been playing Mario Party on different occasions throuought the last three weeks with last time being yesterday and, thankfully, haven't seen anything unusual.

yeah people are going to be scared about buying the gw card cause people look in the forums and they are going to see this and panic and I don't want gw to lose sales cause people are doing stuff they shouldn't and now gw has to make sure their software and hardware isn't causing the issue which in terms will set back their release of the 2.0 final firmware which I hope it doesn't. but like others have said id rather have a flawless working exploit then risk bricking the 3ds. and you know for a fact that Nintendo is monitoring this site and others and the more they see the more ideas they get. and when they figure out out the 3ds systems are getting the bsod they will send a update and when we update our emunands it will crash and Nintendo wont care cause when we send them in to get fixed they will know exactly what we were doing and may even to decline fixing it or replacing it.

If you buy something cheap, you get something cheap.
The people who bought R4i and 3dslink wouldve known this if they did thorough research before purchasing.
You saved what? $20 bucks initially but now you just lost $150-200. and possibly even more if you plan on buying another 4.5 system.

I have a gateway myself and have been using it on the latest 7.0.2 emunand with the latest launcher.dat(provided by Gateway) and havent ever used a clone launcher.
Been playing BD since friday and even using the Homerelay method to get streetpasses on my 3ds.
So far so good, havent had one hickup yet.

Im suspecting this is most likely a problem with the clone launchers.
BTW, isnt it funny how both 3ds link and R4i users are having issues, just showing again that the two cards are made by the same group.
If you have a group selling the same product, under two different names, that right there is shady enough to make users stay away.

Been using the gateway for nearly a month using the official launcher GW has provided as well. Been playing BD. No reports of any problems on my end. I have never used the EmuNAND as well since I have no use for it. (I own 2 3DSes XD)

There have been reports of GW carts bricking the console, but IMHO they seem to be fake. So, I guess you should be fine.

It is good for them. But for their customers it could cause more delays and also make people paranoid about using their product even if its only the clones at the moment.

They are probably in the testing phase, I'd guess safely providing an update to their ASIC may be slightly challenging and requires further testing than usual.
They're in beta testing since the middle of december. I think that they included every feature they currently have "in stock" and they want to get some new (unreleased) features done before they release anything.

I'd like to see someone with the NAND backup mod test this. Change the date on the 3ds system back to the "brick" date, use a modified launcher, see if it bricks.

Nobody try that.

This is actually common practise among flashcart makers. I wouldn't be surprised if Gateway is behind all those clones themselves.
If gateway was behind the r4i....why bother making a shady blatant copy of the gateway firmware.....they would have everything required to just edit the pictures and logo's and recompile it into a different looking firmware, also why would they then go and point the finger at themselves....they could of just as easily blamed it on Nintendo or something if r4i was their own creation. Truth is it's as gateway have always said they are their innovators and the clones are the imitators

Swapped the modified launcher with the original out of sheer paranoia. The 3DS booted just fine. Still, I'm not turning it off ever again.
