So I have only one PS3 and it's on CFW (rebug) 4.50. I neither have downloaded or played any pirated game nor have I launched any homebrew apps. I am on CFW merely to be able to play the fan translated version of tales of vesperia. I have a PSN account for my Vita and PS+. The thing is, the january sale has started and there are some great games for free and for a few bucks that I'm interested in, for instance Crysis 1 for €4,99. I really want this, but I'm not sure if I should risk a ban. My PS+ would be gone. How likely is it that my PSN account will get banned after downloading one game? Are there any CFW people out there whose PSN accounts haven't been banned yet?

as far as i have read Sony mainly ban people who have been playing games online and only after doing it a while. Don't get me wrong though, there is a high risk but if you was just popping on psn, buying your game, downloading and logging off, it shouldn't be too much hassle

Make sure you do it right away and don't launch anything else first. From what I have gathered they are able to see what you load up and that's how they ban. Just power on, grab your game, kill the net. You should be fine! I ain't responsible for shit you do though so you're on your own.

To Sony there is no difference between these acts. Not saying they're right, but you're using the system the way you want, not the way they want, and that's a no-no.

Well, good that I'm not interested in playing games online at all. Yeah I just read somewhere that someone launched multiman while logged in to PSN and later he got banned. Not sure if this was a coincidence or a direct result of it. As far as me launching something goes, I have only rebug installed, no homebrew apps, no multiman. All I can launch are games from disc (except for rebug menu but I won't do that).

Do you have an E3Flasher or Progskeet? You can always setup a Dual nand/nor to save you the risk of getting banned.

I haven't done it for awhile, it was right around the first couple of 4.+ firmwares. Those are the only times my PS3 has ever been connected though. I don't go online with it at all.

Edit: I am on rogero 4.46 right now.

Here is how I do it,

I bought PSN games on Sony Entertainment Store instead of PS3 PSN store. I did this to minimize online time and because PS3'S PSN store is sluggish as hell.

Once I purchased the game I turn on PS3 and run PSN Patch
http://www.tortuga-cove.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5576

This'll disable CFW syscall temporarily. I then connect Ethernet cable and log into PSN. Instead of going to PSN store I go to Account Management > Download List. Games I bought on Sony Entertainment Store will be on there. Select Download > Background download.

Once background download is under way I sign out of PSN account and just wait for it to finish downloading.

Are you saying you are on CFW and this works for you?

How many times are you doing it (When was your last time?)? Yeah I mixed something. It says I'm on FW 4.50 but I have installed rebug 4.something, so I thought it was 4.50 rebug.

I've gone on the PS store quite a bit recently (and quite stupidly sometimes, not clearing my history and launching a file manager while still logged in) and still haven't gotten a ban (granted I haven't played any games online). I'd recommend installing some form of Cobra firmware for extra stealth (rogero/habib 4.46 if you want ps2 isos to work, habib 4.53 for "safer" stealth and latest FW) so you can use the psn patch stealth extensions. After installing all of the psn patch components by pressing select on the main screen psn patch screen, press L3+R3+R2 to enter a safer mode for PSN.

I don't understand all the paranoia behind all this. Being offline 100% of the time= being banned.

I am not scared getting banned i can afford a new PS3 if i do get banned. I am also not stupid.
I run Multiman stealth and webman and I have been online almost all the time since november 2012. Been a ps+ subscriber for 6 months. If i do have to run a homebrew i just disable the internet in the settings. and if i have to use my home network i just put in a wrong dns in the settings

I always stick to latest version CFW so I might not be able to connect for a few day if an update comes up . I never use spoofs(in the past year). I have never in my life cleaned my history(willingly). I have never tried black ops 2 but i have every other COD and play online. Never cheated never will.
I have countless (pirated) psn titles and play them online. I install .pkg while online.

Live your life or don't.

So I installed psnpatch 2.02 and disabled CFW syscalls. Now it says I'm on firmware 4.46 and it needs to be updated when I try launching PSN. Didn't find any solution at the linked website. So what's the point?

Edit: It seems I wasn't at CFW 4.50 to begin with, but on 4.46. But apparently you can connect to PSN with all 4.X CFWs with psnpatch, but I can't.

Edit2: I have the Lite editon of Rebug 4.46 installed. Is there a way to spoof to the latest firmware and connect to PSN? without installing any REX, rogero or habib FWs?

Edit3: Ok, I used SEN Enabler and spoofed OFW 4.53, then I disabled CFW syscalls with psnpatch, registered my PS3 in PSN and downloaded the game. While the game was downloaded in the background I played a bit RE 5 and the trophies I got have been synced to PSN automatically without my permission whenever I cleared a stage. Hopefully that won't come back to bite me. Also a stupid singstar channel has been installed without my consent. How do I get rid of it?
