then, just wait. It will be released when it's done.

Fake or not, It won't change how long you'll have to wait for the real release.

I know, it doesn't matter to me anyways, I'm playing Link Between Worlds at the moment, no need for Pokemon and Animal Crossing. I was just curious.

question, on emunand, is it only the Card2 type games that get their savedata corrupted or what? i tried various retail games on classic 7.1 emunand and savedata stayed intact. The were all not >4.5 cartridges tho.

Or do all 5.x, 6.x, 7.x retail carts get their savedata formatted for emunand?

Look... Card2 games (only Pokemon and Animal Crossing) save to the same memory where the game is written (the "rom"). Since Gateway hasn't implemented a way to save the game to the "rom" file, it will just say that the save file is corrupted.

Nothing to do with the save/cartridge type per se, it just happens that cartridge 2 games all require at least 6.0 or higher.

See http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Savegames#6.0.0-11_Savegame_keyY for an (albeit quite technical) explanation.

When booting gateway the required keys get initialized wrong/not at all, or the required encryption function is just not working right. Anyway, the decryption fails, the game thinks the save is corrupt and is reset. AFAIK this will not happen on subsequent launches under emunand (as the wrong generated keys/the broken en-/decryption funtion are persistent over reboots), but again when launched on a real system.

Big Edit: I just read that the other guy was asking about retail games instead of Backups, now I know where the problem was...

Anygame with a 6.x update partition will use the new keY method, since EmuNANDs are still essentially running off the 4.x base, it doesnt know the new flags and reverts to the old keyY method. Hence the incompatibility when they have been played on a legit 6.x/7.x console prior, New Retail Carts work fine, but same thing will happen if you try and put in a uptodate console and play after playing it on GW one

Games being :
Pokemon X/Y
Zelda - A link between Worlds
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
Shingeki no Kyoujin - Jinrui Saigo no Tsubasa
Mario Party Island Tour

How come 5.x games work fine then, if we´re still on 4.5? Batman i believe is 5.xx Do 5.x games have the savedata erased?

The issue is only for the games that contain the 6.X update. For this specific case, it has nothing to do with the SDK version they were created. For example: Bravely Default was created with the SDK4.X, but it has the 6.X update, so it will cause the same issue.

ok, thank you. 5.x games work fine then.

Thank you all for the info.

I finally gave in and bought a Gateway 3DS. Getting it sent Express post, so I'm hoping to have it tomorrow. :) also bought a class 10 micro sd card for it. I'm excited, looking forward to it. I can slowly start building a collection of sealed games now too. Woo.

How do I update from 2.01b to 2.02b? Do I just change the launcher.dat on my 3ds sd card?

As far as I know, yup.. That's it. I attempted to overwrite the blue card as well with the 02b files, but it appears they are all at the same filesize except for launcher.

I have animal crossing and link between worlds installed on my emunand and I can confirm my saves work fine... I had a legit machine and did system transfer and all of my data/saves work on my purchased items of eshop.

So I just won a Gateway 3DS on this site! Woop! I'm not a newbie when it comes to flash carts and such, but I have no clue when it comes to developers updating these things haha!

I originally had no intentions of buying a Gateway because i thought it was a bit too soon to delve in until Nintendo had stopped the weaker carts working, that makes clear who the better producers of flash carts are right? This was before knew about EmuNAND etc! Which is a great idea!

So i've been updating my 3DS accordingly… I've read multiple FAQs and I know there's no way of using the gateway on my console yet as i'm running on v7.1.0 but I read on the original post that they're attempting to get Gateway running on 5.x and 6.x, although there is no mention of 7.x can I assume that they are making an attempt at that firmware too? I ask because if that is the case then I'll refrain from updating my console (after UK poke bank is finally released) so i can use it! :)

Thanks to all!(I realise that you're not the gateway team but it's worth asking)

Congrats! I won a gateway 3ds too ^-^ lol...
Anyways...
The Gateway Team said that after 6.2 any firmware up will most likely never be compatible...

Your firmware 4.5 gamesaves made with 5.0+ games will also be incompatible with any new firmware if they manage to get 5.0+ firmware working. The reason is that all 5.0+ gamesaves are encrypted with 4.5 firmware, even if you use emunand 7.1.0 to play those games. This probably wont be an issue for people with those newer consoles, but will require that either 4.5 firmware console users stay on their current firmware or update and lose their ability to play their save games.
