So this update encrypts the data sent during trades and battles, so Instacheck and the Battle Analyzer can't be used anymore, but apparently it also issued new Shiny Values to trainers as well, since some people hatching eggs that had already been Instachecked didn't hatch shiny.
Can someone confirm?

Not true.

Trade / Battle data is no longer unencrypted, so the programs in their current state will not work.

Too bad u need update firmware to be able update the game :( This kind of secure is a must for pokemon games as those programms that tracks ur moves are just ruin whole experience.

Its mandatory if you want to do anything online with pokemons.
Yeah I just read. damn sian can.

This is retarded..
Hopefully the X and Y saves off Gateway (using old encryptions) can be cracked or something.
Well, at least I had my fair share of generating shinies before all this went to hell ><

Well, if the data is encrypted, then I guess the encryption needs to be broken. I'm sure someone would crack it eventually.

I love how the only mention Nintendo made in the update notes regarding the Battle Analyzer cheat was "Updates an Internet communication issue". lol

Better to sweep dirty things under the rug I guess. :P
Well, not encrypting their internet communication in the first place was a big issue.

Or perhaps they put it in "plain context" so that unsuspecting victims will update then realise what it means.

I mean, who knows, we might be able to spoof local trades over virtual wifi + some network group and continue using instacheck.
We just need want someone to create that for us ><

Now that it is encrypted, highly unlikely.

No what I mean is we conduct local trades without downloading the 1.2 patch.

This way, no encryption is involved.

The only hassle (of course, and feasibility being another issue) is to spoof the "local trade" by using some kind of network app fused with virtual router.

It's like using our laptop to host union rooms, or a shiny trade convention by "faking local trades"

Exactly why u cannot do that. Because local trade isn't a "network". It's wireless communication.
According to what your saying, the closest idea would have been rhe wonder trade, but it is now encrypted.
Furthermore, to use the internet features with pokemon, you MUST update.
No matter how u look at it, there's isn't a way out of this for now.

I know :/
It's not like our laptop can fake a signal that "it's another 3DS passerby".
Nor can we try to do that using infrared. ARGH...
