Hardware Help me! Regarding a cart

Right, I need help with a decision. I have a 3DSXL for Christmas on firmware 4.5, fit for Gateway/R4iDeluxe and I was wondering...
I have enough money for R4i Deluxe, and the cheapest option for me is Zhuzhuchina, is it worth buying it now? I want to use my XL when I get it, but I doubt that ill be able to if i buy that, since im based in the UK. However, I wont get enough money for one of these carts for a while, so its a hard decision for me.

So should I buy the cart, or wait for 6.3 to get cracked? (my regular 3ds will not be used when I get the XL, and that is on 6.3 or something)

Oh right, please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I obviously need one of the 2 flashcards to use the files right?

(I dont fancy buying a r4ideluxe from China, i wont have it till. like march and i have around $45...Zhuzhuchina is the only one selling it at that price)

Any DS flashcard would do.

you need just a DS Flashcard that works on 4.5.0 to install the DS settings hack
once you have that you can use the RedNAND hack and once you have that you only then need a flashcard to play 3DS roms
but you can use the RedNAND to load official carts that would of required to update previously

You can do anything a normal GW could except ROMs.

I found out how to install the Settings hack, just dont know what to do afterwards.

Copy launcher.dat to 3DS SD. Hold L when entering DS Profiles.
This IS the way. Just use EmuNAND/RedNAND.

and thats how to do redNAND? So what will happen if I do what you just told me, and tried ot play Pokemon, will it try to force update or delete my save or what?

Update the EmuNAND to 6.3 and enter classic mode. Then play.

I feel like such an idiot now...but how do I update the emuNAND? All of this is new to me so xD

EDIT: It was on the site xD thankyou! So this preserves my firmware until I recieve my r4i ?

You enter EmuNAND mode and do a system update.
Read the forum before doing that though. Some people failed.

Alright thankyou. All i have to do is make sure the system firmware at the time of updating begins with GW3DS or some shit xD thanks!

Sorry for the double post, but I found something out.

If I make emuNAND, i cannot play Pokemon X/Y as the saves are not compatible...this is a huge problem for me...

saves only not compatible if you have already started a save on the cart on another 3DS
