The problem Nintendo's facing right now is that the competition's systems are brand-new, hyped up and very exciting. The Wii U didn't cause nearly as much of a buzz which is why its current sales are mediocre at best, but they'll pick up later down the line and I think the system will sell moderately well. Nintendo has enough of a fanbase to keep it going, but it's definitely no Wii - it won't dominate this console generation.

Black Friday shouldn't even exist it only causes pain, harm and even deaths.

You mean you're not into inflicting harm onto others so you can get that sweater? But you do this in Grand Theft Auto, right?

Nintendo will be tied with Sony on who can kick Microsoft's ass better. ;)

Nothing is going to happen, they are going to keep supporting the Wii U like they should.

The Wii U isn't doing good because stupid people think it's an add-on for the Wii. Perhaps a name change is appropriate.

A name change now would be insane.
This consumer's confusion may be troublesome to sales but it can't be blamed as the solely reason for the bad sales of WiiU.
3DS had lots of trouble in it's first months of life cycle, many consumers tought it was just a new model for DS,
but with a good marketing and good titles been released for it, it started selling well and look at it now.

It's not their fault, it's Nintendo's horrible messaging. They seem to have an idea now about to do. Advertising what the Wii U is amd what makes it a different console.

By that logic Microsoft should change Xbox One to.. Xbox 720 (360*2)?

You know, there's already the real Xbox One and now there's a new Xbox One.
No, the first Xbox is called, uh Xbox! Also keep in mind that many Wii owners are parents that are just to stupid to think the Wii U is a new system. They already have a Wii, so why should they waste their money on a U? Nintendo even felt the need to send Wii owners a letter via their message board to inform them that the Wii U is not an add-on. Core gamers obviously know that the Wii U is a new system.

The original Xbox was referred as "Xbox 1" so it's not people's fault for being confused which is the new and old.

Sony has their PlayStation One to make more confusion with Xbox One.

Let's not push all the blame on the admittedly silly name - there are other factors. If you were to be correct, the XBox brand wouldn't exist by now, its naming scheme is contemporarily the most confusing - I mean, really, XBox -> XBox 360 (I missed 359 revisions?) -> XBox One (Back to the Past...?). There's a number of reasons why the sales are poor, the name is just one of them and if anything, it's minor. The real problem is the appaling marketing scheme.

They're stupid because they don't know what core gamers know?
You do realize you're talking about parents that today are ~40, right?
Seriously, if there is any stupid here it's nintendo's employee that recommended "Wii U" as the next-gen-brand-new-home-console-not-add-on-from-the-old-wii.

Why is everyone implying that it's a general rule that kids are mute*? They voice out their wishes to their parents, the parents don't need to know the specifics, they have a "letter to Santa" to go by. Why are we assuming that the fault is always external? Maybe, and this is just an idea that crossed my mind, maybe there's something wrong with the system and its marketing? Maybe nobody buys it because it's not desirable?

Blaming a poor name for poor sales is a poor excuse - you don't need a Shakespearian name to sell electronics, you just need that name to be heard and you need the product to have some appeal. Unless your console is called Peadophiliatron2000, the name is completely irrelevant in the long run. People think that the Wii U is a Wii add-on not because it sounds like a Wii add-on but because nobody informed them that it isn't.
