Hacking WTF?????? NAND Updating Gone Wrong!

I took that to mean "once you see GW3D, add a connection, then update". Since I was already *in* Gateway mode... they should make it very clear that setting up a Wi-Fi setting will force you to leave Gateway mode and that you have to shut down your system, and reboot it into Gateway mode once again

Can you really blame me for assuming I was all set when it said GW3D in the bottom right before I went to update it? :/

I never had to shutdown mine.

Booted emunand, entered settings, saw GW3D. Added a connection, tested it and then system update. Updated the emunand. I was never forced to leave settings or reboot after setting a new connection.

Then what on Earth caused mine to behave as it did, if I did the exact same thing you did?

The only difference is that I accepted the TOS after adding a connection.

You can't put a notice on a local bulletin board at your supermarket requesting the services of someone with soldering skills for a cup of coffee or a couple of beers?

Maybe accepting the TOS was the trigger?
I don't remember there were TOS for online updates, only for eshop, etc.

I never accepted them but could update online (I just can't use eshop/streetpass/online multiplayer games).

I was wondering if accepting these TOS while in EmuNAND would keep my RealNAND's TOS untouched, but I'm not sure now.
Downloading Eshop games seems to write tickets on both EmuNAND and RealNAND, same for setting wifi connection, so there are things which are affecting both NANDs. It's not a full redirection.

Perhaps accepting the TOS somehow trigger the update going through the eshop and that was the issue?

That sounds very risky! I was under the impression that emuNAND was in some sort of a sandbox so you couldn't screw your real NAND up while it's loaded.

Yep doing same setting wifi checked gw3ds labeled update latest and works fine. No need to go ou of settings at that point

they are written to your SD card not NAND, that's why you see them on both sysnand and emunand

Wrong. The tickets are written to nand and gateway team hasn't patched the writing of tickets to the real nand when you are in emunand. I'm sure they will fix this issue in a coming update.

Formatting the real NAND should fix that issue, right?

As long as you keep the emuNAND the way it is, you can download stuff from the eShop on the emulated one, and then just wipe your real NAND to clear the tickets. Right?

Now all I need is a way to restore my NAND backup.... anyone?

You need someone to solder in the physical connections. Based on what I used to charge for RGH and similar it would probably be a $10-$20 fix.

this is my procedure:

setup the connection in real nand
when 3ds tell me test connection is ok i turn off the wifi, and reboot
install gateway
backup nand (and save in pc)
format nand
reboot (press L)
boot in gateway mode
enter in option
WHEN I SEE THE GTW 4.5.0 FW , turn on wifi and update the emunand

the procedure done perfectly at first time....

(at the second, at 95% the connection lost and an error appear, resolved, i move my 3ds close the router)

sorry for bad english

thats what i did, i already had wifi setup and just had slider off till i was in EnuNAND and then turned it on once in system settings, dont know why they specifically tell you to delete and settings

You format the emuNAND .bin file from the Gateway launcher (holding L + pressing DS profile)

Anyway, I'm sending my 3DS XL to a fellow gbatemp member who will put a NAND flashing connector in there for me. It beats having to buy a whole new system, since I have a backup that can be restored anyway.

Hopefully this thread helps anyone out who's looking to use the emuNAND, don't make the same mistakes I did... I really don't any more to add at this time :)
