Nope, I did not.

Actually, I think he means just "did you leave system settings"?
My best bet is that you did not update through system settings, rather, through the eshop or something... which gateway warned you not to do. If that's not the case, I have no explanation.

Yes I know what he means. And I didn't update through eShop. I did it like it said. On the last page of the Other Settings.

After I installed emuNAND, I coppied my games back onto the sd card but they will not show up on the 3ds. I have checked both the actual nand and the emuNAND.

a better way to make sure you don't get mixed up between emunand and sysnand

Good idea. I've done the same on mine now, except just one blue folder called emu, as I use a different view.

Emunand seems to work fine for me every time, as long as I hold L and boot from GUI. Just doing the normal profile way, results in crash 50% of the time. I wonder if it's something to do with read speed of the sd and loading the gui gives it just the little extra time it needs.

Zelda is working fine for me as well. No home button freeze and save is intact :).

ok guys i just fixed the zelda save file problem

-memory 8gb sandisk ultra microsd ongateway
-memory 32gb sandisk ultra sd on 3ds xl

format both with panasonic sd formatter... full format
then write zelda on microsd with the tool we all use

by the way this is working on 4.4 firmware since im not planning on upgrading.

go to ds profile without pressing L2,
play the game
save

if you need to get out of game PRESS THE DAMN POWER BUTTON. NOT HOME

play the game again. save is there and saved again and it works

no fucking emunand. im on 4.4 and i dont like messing with the nand

discovered something strange,

I installed the Emunand just to see how it works and everything. Now i had seen it i wanted to return to 4.5 without emunand, so i formatted the SD card. Now it still boots to the emunand, unless I use gateway 1.2. ( so i think i know how the emunand works, but i gonna check it now with a hex editor ;)

Sorry but your recommendation is misleading.

It's well known that Gateway has an internal memory to store the saves and you need to do the procedure of going to home menu and close in order to copy the save to the SD. If you don't do this, the save will still be stored on the Red GW, but after changing to another game, this save file will be overwritten.

seems like you dont know how gaetway works, at least you dont know how to save your game properly without losing your savegame if you switch games.

the emuNAND thingy is pretty dangerous / unstable right now.
I setup everything for the emuNAND and it works so far, I checked if t he "GW3D" string was active and returned to the Homescreen ... and once I reenter the System Settings, it jumped back to the system NAND.
So watch out when and what application tries to update something.

Probably the reason why some of you guys accidentally updated their systen NAND.

*sigh* that's how Gateway has worked since ever and that's why there are instructions about how to update through emuNAND.

Your 3DS should not swap between NANDs just by going to the system menu - it should only go to system NAND on power cycle.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
