So I just picked up a used Vita that can run emulators and ISOs. It has Vita games installed on it already (such as Gravity Rush), but the thing is, the Vita asks me to enable wifi to be able to play it (otherwise, the game won't run). I'm guessing this is because it's a game that was probably downloaded with PS+, but my question is, doesn't enabling wifi and playing games on the system that were already downloaded through PS+ by the previous owner putting me at risk of getting my system banned? Or do I only risk it if I actually enter the PSN store/try playing games online?

I'm currently weighing out the pros and cons of keeping the thing with CFW, or just updating it to OFW. I'm leaning towards OFW because of PS+, but in the meantime I want to play the games that are already downloaded on the Vita, but not at the risk of me getting my system banned from PSN...

edit: some more info, just realized my Vita's system software is 2.02. Doesn't this mean that it technically doesn't have CFW, and that I should have nothing to worry about? All I know is that the Vita has an Uno app that can run emulators and PSP games. Sorry I'm not too knowledgeable on Vita hacking haha.

what you are referring to, is probably the vita psp TN-v (there are no vita iso's yet). if you want to go online you HAVE to update. (i wouldn't) if you love psp games keep it at that firmware you can download psp isos and just transfer them through the psp xmb. http://youtu .be/o8AT0fvOZtU?t=7m40s. this guy shows you how to do things with it. if its not like that video then you have vhbl (just update if that is the case)

Your Vita doesn't have a CFW. It's using the UNO exploit just like you said. Sony cannot ban your console. But you need to renew the PS+ membership if you want to play Gravity Rush. This also means though that you are playing on someone else's account and the person you bought it from may use his/her account for his/her PS3, so that person may be stealing your money should he/she still be using that account. I recommend updating and doing a System Recovery if you want to use your own account.

If PSP ISOs and homebrew are more important then stick to firmware 2.02 and continue using the UNO exploit. Keep in mind that you can't go online or play the latest games on your Vita until it's updated and updating always means losing your exploit. Most people tend to agree these days that it's better to update and wait for a new exploit alltogether. There's also the option of buying a PSP and hacking that to reduce the hassle.

More information on Vita hacking is in my thread: http://gbatemp.net/threads/playstation-vita-hacking-news-overview-faq.341851/

Cool thanks for the help guys, yeah I think the Vita has OFW (because of the 2.02 system software). I just got home and checked out the UNO app a little more and noticed that after running it and getting to the menu with all the PSP games and emulators, it says 'TN Menu 1.0' on the bottom left of the screen, and looks just like the top picture here:

In the meantime I'm just going to play the Vita games that are already on the system from the previous owner, and then when I'm done with all those I think I'll do a system restore and get my own PSN account along with PS+. Thanks again!

That is a UNO exploit my vita had that same exploit that was the last of the Kernel exploits at least for now. I would leave it as is until a new exploit is released. Or sell it for some money to buy a new one. I sold my exploited vita for $200 cash on craigslist the price may have changed by now but just to let you know that is a very rare and desirable exploit.

Sorry to get back to you so late but wow, thanks for the info. I think I got a really good deal on the Vita, I got it with a 32 GB card and a couple games for $175 locally. I'm loving it so far and am having a blast playing Vita games as well as replaying PSP games, they really do look better on the Vita screen. I wasn't aware you cannot play PSX games on a Vita like you can with a CFW PSP by putting PSX eboots in the GAME folder which is kind of a shame, guess I really should have done my homework first about that haha. Considering that I don't want to update the Vita, I guess I'm going to have to live without PS1 games for a bit but oh well. So far it has far exceeded my expectations and I'm really enjoying it

Actually they are really common just check out wololo.net they usually release a new vhbl every 2 months so there is no reason to pay outrageous numbers like 600 when you can get it yourself for about 5.

Yes they are and over 20 exploits were patched on 3.00 also making it much harder to get exploits to work... There's a article over at wololo.net and every kernel exploit was patched amoung the 20 that were patched they say they have one more kernel not patched but I doubt it why would they wait even longer to release it? Didn't try learn what happened the 1st time thy waited to long? Figures -.-

My gawd.... 600 bucks for a kernal exploited PS Vita.... My 2.02 UNO TN-V is a potential gold mine LOL.

Jokes. I'm not a scum bag who overprices hackable consoles. I detest it infact. In Australia people are asking 400+ dollars for PS2 capable 3.55 fat PS3s..... From 2006!!!! Ticking YLOD bomb much???

Hell, I sold my old gateway compatible ambassador 3DS for like 100 bucks.... Good Guy console hacker

Considering the fact that a PSVita with an installed exploit is about as useful as a PSP, the high price is completely unjustified. If anything, the system is gimped because you can't take advantage of new functionality introduced by updates, can't download patches, can't play online, can't purchase anything from PSN store and can't participate in PSPlus. I had the UNO exploit installed and... then I realized that I have a PSP already and immediately updated.

Yeah I sold my 2.02 UNO on Craigslist a while back. The only thin I did with it was play wagic a homebrew game. It would be a lot easier to just get a hack able psp.

I thought that I'd take advantage of the exploit to play my favorite PSP games but at the time compatibility was spotty so not only the PSP turned out to be a better platform to do this, the benefits of updating greatly outweigh the benefits of staying on a low firmware, at least in the case of the PSVita. In my case, PSPlus was the ultimate Piracy Prevention Practice. :P

You might have been what state where you getting it from?
I had quite a few people make some offers on it, but really until they make an actual CFW for Vita I won't be getting another one until then. Just get a PSP.
