"Nintendo" was banned when I was in elementary school.
If you got caught playing a Gameboy Colour then you're forced to give it to the teacher who would then later give it back when the school was out.

I got caught playing my GBA in class, back when I was a kid.

When it was returned at the end of the day, all kinds of new saves had been made, and even worse: overwriting mine. Damn bastard.

That luckily never happened to me.
Brought me GBC to school multiple times and no such thing fortunately.

Yup same here.
I've been in an elementary school a few months ago, and I saw 2 kids with 3DS's playing each other. I would have loved to do that, sad :(
Was much harder back in the day, with link cables and such.

Christ you people are old.

Seriously though, this is either going to give Nintendo a kickstart into a completely new field for them, something they haven't attempted... ...since the dawn of gaming, actually. Or it's going to fall flatter than the collision mapping on Big Rigs Over The Road Racing.

Now we wait.

Yes but I don't think I got my point across.

I meant they will be taking the gaming to the tablet form pretty soon. Gaming "Tablets". Such as Nvidia's Shield:

Regardless of what experience any of them have on the android device market.

Because unfortunately, that's what is being demanded. Nintendo better get their shit together if that happens.

Seeing as Microsoft makes the Surface Pro tablets and Sony makes Vaio Tap tablet with x86 processors and full desktop capabilities that can run games on medium settings smoothly (since Intel Haswell), and even their ARM tablets have huge gaming capabilities, such as Microsoft's Xbox ports and Sony's Playstation Mobile, where actual console games are ported to the ARM devices, I think they're far ahead. All that's missing is the hardware buttons, which there are thousands of options. You can even hook up an Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii controller to any Android or Windows 8 device through blu-tooth.

True, true.

But what's funny, is that even with those "thousands of options", neither Microsoft OR Sony have released a tablet with proper gaming buttons.

A keyboard? An Xbox 360 controller? A USB mouse? If I have to carry any of those, I might as well just buy a laptop and get access to all my steam games, and every single pc goodness, while being portable too. Virtually no difference in cost here either.

I've tried Nvidia's Shield, and despite its eye-watering ugliness, it is by far the best android gaming device I've come across.

But hey, I speak for myself.

I think you're overestimating everything. It will run Android 1.6 Cupcake, skinned to remove 90% of the functionality. No root, locked bootloader, no settings, no task manager, no Google Play, no installing APKs, and not even a lock screen. The UI will be exactly the same as the 3DS. The screen will be 240 by 400 resolution, TN panel. 400 MHz ARM11 processor, single-core, Adreno 130 GPU, 256 MB of RAM. Resistive touchscreen. $200.

Or an arm 6 processer.

For what it's worth, I actually enjoyed Mario Teaches Typing back in the DOS days! :P
I used to play Mario teaches typing as well when it was on the Mac ('95ish) and I still can't type worth a flip lol.

1. Nobody wants dedicated hardware buttons stuck to their tablet.
2. Detachable hardware buttons still haven't been done right. (see Razer Edge http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/03/28/razer-edge-gaming-tablet-review)
3. A laptop does not offer the same type of portability as a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet, nor the battery life (typically).
