buddies, you understood me half wrong....:)
I mean can 3DS firmware updated via gateway even if the 3DS has 1.1(not gateway firmware...) firmware..?
Okay, I understood you wrong but my answer is still correct for your case :P
That's the reason why 3DS firmwares have 3 numbers. Could you please write 1.1.X in the future since we can understand that better?

Sorry for that, buddy..:)

Anyway, does 32GB SanDisk Ultra class 10 supported by Gateway..?
Also will 64GB microSDHX work..?

32GB SanDisk Ultra class 10 should work. Although the class isn't very important for the Gateway (it only displays writing speed; not reading).
64GB MicroSDXC will probably work but it's very likely that you have to formate it first.

Thanks buddy...:)
I already have a 16GB, so might get 64GB one if I get one cheaper in Black Friday or Cyber Monday...:)

question

i just got my r4i and could i use one of thos standard sd cards that come along with normal (ds) flashcards (its 2 GB) ?
and if there is a problem will it occur while the PC is writing to the sd or when the r4i is reading the sd card?

Almost every MicroSD cards should be ok. Just cheap ones could be too slow. But you can check it with the diagnostics mode and with the test rom. Sorry but R4i has no diagnostics mode.

Amazon selling 16GB, 32GB & 64GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10 U1 at respectively 9.99$, 17.99$ & 34.99$ as part of Black Friday. I checked now, the offer still on going. Hope this might help someone..:)

Greetings folks.

I intend to buy a new MicroSD card and a normal large sized SD Card for the right side of the 3DS. I do however wish to know which one is recommended that will be working with the Gateway. I've seen multiple replies here and there on the forums, but it's always hard to see which one is 'compatible' with the Gateway and I'd prefer to sure that I'm getting the right one.

I'm looking for either a 16 or 32GB MicroSD card, hopefully with Class 10. Though anything as far as I know above Class 6 should be fine. But I might as well get a Class 10.

So far, I've found these:
- Samsung MicroSDHC 32GB (Class 10x, UHS-1x) < And one without UHS-1x.
- Transcend 16GB microSDHC (Class 10x)
- Kingston microSDHC 32GB (Class 10x)

That I can order right away (1 of course).

And for the SD Card:
- Transcend SDHC 8GB Class 10

Can anyone recommend a brand of which I 'should' be getting for both MicroSD & SD Card?

Appreciate it!

Regards,
Skyrider

I heard people having problems with Kingston microSD cards, but they were using older 1-2 GB SD cards. Personally, I use a Sandisk 16gb micro SDHC class 10 and the SD card that came with my 3DS XL. There's no point in having a really large SD card unless you want to use eShop and play downloaded games.

I've read that Trascend and Sandisk are highly recommended "for general usage", and I haven't read about a particular brand nor a particular size not working with Gateway (except for some defective Kingston cards).

From the 4 you have mentioned, I think you could go for 2 MicroSD of Samsung, a 32GB MicroSD is proportionally cheaper against a 16GB one, but you should also check the prices to see which is better for you.

A SD card (which is generally more expensive than a MicroSD) will probably not offer any benefits over a MicroSD with an adapter. Two users helped me testing the load speeds of emuNAND with a fast SD and a normal Class 10 MicroSD with a SD adapter, and the difference was really minimal.

If this helps, I just bought a pair of these:
http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx...-sd-xc-clase-10-mobile-ultra-android-30mb-_JM for a relative good price, 30USD for each.

I read from this website:

Not compatible list:
- Kingston 4GB no class logo 3$
- Kingston 16GB class 10 15$

I am unsure if this is true though.

Does it matter if it's a UHS-1x card or not? I'm unsure if UHS-I is compatible with Gateway.

I'd have to pick a MicroSD card then which will include an adapter then :). I merely wish to have a bigger SD Card for as mentioned, video's, etc. I prefer to have some space left as currently (with the NAND) I have 0 bytes.

Thanks for the help thus far! Appreciate it.

Quote:
An SDHC UHS-I card will work in any SDHC compatible device at lower speeds, but to take advantage of the UHS-I speed, a UHS-I compatible device is essential.

So it should work. By the way, that speed class sounds like it could be expensive; if you can find something cheaper, it would be better; otherwise it will be a waste.

Edit: I just realised I bought UHS cards as well, lol; this is a little awkward :P

The difference between the Samsung UHS-I and Class 10 is only 3 euro's. Class 10 being € 19,82 and the UHS-I being € 22,50. Can't exactly say that it is much.

22.50Euros are about 31USD, almost the same price as the ones I bought, so it's ok.

Awesome, then a:
- 32GB micro SD Class 10 Plus UHS-I 48MB/s Samsung

It is. Appears to be even cheaper, €20,50.

I'd assume I can just get a 8GB Samsung Class 10 MicroSD with an Adapter to use for the side of my 3DS.

I recommend getting the Samsung or Transcend. Sandisk is very unconsistent in terms of costumer ratings (you'll hear different opinions on their products everywhere) and Kingston doesn't work for some reason lol. I'm using a Transcend 32GB MicroSDHC Class10 UHS-1 myself but I had planned on getting a Samsung before I saw the Transcend on sale.

If it's more or less the same price, get the UHS-I one - it'll at least improve transfer rates from your PC to the card.
