I remember I was able to transfer all my gba pokemon to heart gold a long time ago, but I cannot seem to remember the process; I assume there is a similar way to transfer all my pokemon from heart gold to black 2 but am at a loss on how to do so. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I recently did HG to W1 and used PokeSav to do it by backing up the boxes from HG's save and importing it into my White save making them all eggs (note you have to reset the pokemon's name and OT as well) set the egg hatch time to 1 and then repeat for em all

then hatch em all to make em appear in your dex as well and enjoy!

That sounds like a pretty quick way to make a whole bunch of illegal Pokemon that would be blocked by GTS, Gen VI, etc.

Assuming you have access to the save files, Pokegen supports the mass importation of Pokemon from one save file to another, even between generations.

Yeah thats what I was thinking... Does pokegen have any issues transfering legit pokemon? (like anything that would give it away that I used pokegen, when I try to transfer them to gen vi soon?)

No, legal Pokemon transferred from one save to another using Pokegen are indistinguishable from any other legal Pokemon. In fact, Pokemon generated/edited using Pokegen, if done correctly, are also indistinguishable from legal Pokemon. It should be noted, however, that you will need to somehow send any Pokemon you want to transfer to XY to a legitimate B/W/B2/W2 cartridge first.

Drag&Drop everything you want to transfer from PokéGen to a random folder, then put them all in a .zip file.
Then create an account on PokéCheck, click "Manage my Pokémon" at the top, the select the zip file and "Import Generation 4 .pkm as Generation 5 .pkm"
Then you re-download them and can add them to a Gen. V save file.

Interesting pokegen doesn't much show this stuff(ui could use work I think) but I'll give that a look tomorrow since I keep backups before I do anything to save files

well it isn't the fastest, but using the regular pokeporter doesn't take too long if you only have 2 boxes or so...

I'm pretty sure Pokegen auto-converts Pokemon from Generation IV to Generation V if you drag Generation IV .pkm files into a Generation V save file.
Nevermind.

Tried Ping's method which went well except the names capitalized so I went in with PokeSav and defaulted them, that shouldn't make a difference to the legality of the Pokemon but I am just about to check

and they checked out according to the site, cheers for the tip there though in a way I am glad I did a round of hatching to get them on my Dex

Changing the names of Generation IV Pokemon to lowercase (without setting a nickname flag) will make them illegal.

apparently not since I double checked them and they come back legal

There are exceptions, of course (e.g. changing the name sometimes looks like evolution after transfer). However, the image you just sent me is of an illegal Pokemon. Look at the part that says "evolved after transfer," then the part that says "encountered at 75," then the part that says "experience at 75." Once you level it up to 76, it will cease to be illegal. It should also be noted that Mightyena was only able to become legal at 76 because of the size of its name; other Pokemon will be illegal no matter what and will not be able to pass as "evolved after transfer."

  • Importing Pokemon from Gen IV to Gen V using Pokesav and letting them be eggs will make each and every Pokemon you do this with illegal.
  • Changing the names from all caps to normal with Pokesav (without setting the nickname flag) on imported Gen IV Pokemon will make Pokemon illegal, the only exception being if a Pokemon could have evolved after transfer.
So yeah.
