Hey guys,

Ok so if I save a file on the Red Gateway, and then just shutdown my 3ds by pressing power and then shut down, does it copy files over to the SD card?

I just need to understand how the saving works. Does it keep a save both on the Gateway card and also on the SD card? Or just the SD card?

i don't know about it having a save file on the gateway it self but i every where i read says that you have to press the home button for it to write the save file to the sd card and when you start the game it load the save file off of the sd card.
so by just pressing the power button to shut down the 3ds and not pressing the home button then power down the 3ds you lose your game's progress/save

That's strange.

I powered off and shut down, and my save file didn't go away.

Hmmmm...

thats what i have read. i don't have a gateway, or a 3ds (yet), maybe in the newer firmware(?) versions of the gateway they add that feature to it?
like i said i am only saying what i have read

Are you sure you're saying what you've read? Lol, just kidding :P

@OP The way it's intended to work is exactly what dragonblood9999 said. Exiting from the game using HOME+X+A from a game allows the save file to be transferred to your SD card from the Gateway. Force powering it down without exiting the software "properly" first will not transfer your save to the SD card, and you run the risk of the save not being available next time you launch it. If your save file didn't go away after shutting down, I wouldn't trust that it'll happen again unless you satisfy the exact conditions from when you did it last. And if you don't know what that is, then it might not happen the same way again.

tl;dr dragonblood9999 is correct, follow those instructions to guarantee 0 save file issues when using Gateway.

Well thanks for clarifying. It was strange that it ended up saving anyways.

I tested this thoroughly in my review of this thing, and yep, you're gonna need to save in game, push home, X, and then A to fully save the data. I can confirm data loss on the 1.1a firmware if you fail to complete this method.

I have 1.2 think that might have made a difference? Didn't see anything of the sort in patch notes though.

Maybe I just had a fluke!

Interesting. I honestly had no real reason for 1.2. My Gateway came perfectly fine, all stickers intact, and working beautifully. :P If I find a pressing need or overwhelming demand, I'll go ahead and test it.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
