I've read the Tutorials and searched all over the internet for info, but I still have a few questions regarding playing Back-ups of GameCube games on the Wii, hope someone can help:

1. Can GC Games be Converted to WBFS using WiiBackup Manager, or do they have to be ISO?

2. I'm currently using Configurable USB Loader, version Cfg70MODr65, to play my Wii Backups, can this same USB Loader be used to play GameCube games? or is USB Loader GX the ONLY Loader than can play GC Games?

3. I thought Wii Can natively support GameCube games, so shouldnt any Loader work?

4. Can GC Games be displayed in the same CFG menu as my Wii Games?

5. If I HAVE to use USBLoaderGX, can it be configured to ONLY read the GC ISOs and not my WBFS Wii Games?

6. and whats the difference between USBLoaderGX & ConfigurableUSBLoader, are the menus as customizable, and the views the same?

7. and is USBLoaderGX as safe to install & use as ConfigurableUSBLoader? any other issues between them? and can they both be installed together?

8. I Like ConfigurableUSBLoader, and dont really want to change to USBLoaderGX if possible.. any way to do this and still play GC Games?

thanks for any input

1. Can GC Games be Converted to WBFS using WiiBackup Manager, or do they have to be ISO?
They can't be WBFS.

2. I'm currently using Configurable USB Loader, version Cfg70MODr65, to play my Wii Backups, can this same USB Loader be used to play GameCube games? or is USB Loader GX the ONLY Loader than can play GC Games?
Yes, you can load GC backups using Configurable USB Loader Mod.

3. I thought Wii Can natively support GameCube games, so shouldnt any Loader work?
The loader has to support DIOS MIOS in order for GameCube backup loading to be possible in a particular loader.

4. Can GC Games be displayed in the same CFG menu as my Wii Games?
Yes.

5. If I HAVE to use USBLoaderGX, can it be configured to ONLY read the GC ISOs and not my WBFS Wii Games?
You don't have to use USBLoaderGX.

6. and whats the difference between USBLoaderGX & ConfigurableUSBLoader, are the menus as customizable, and the views the same?
They're basically the same thing. Most of the differences are aesthetic.

7. and is USBLoaderGX as safe to install & use as ConfigurableUSBLoader? any other issues between them? and can they both be installed together?
You can go between the two loaders. They're basically the same thing, and they're both safe.

8. I Like ConfigurableUSBLoader, and dont really want to change to USBLoaderGX if possible.. any way to do this and still play GC Games?
Yes, CFG works with GC backups. It's also my preferred loader. Follow this guide to install DIOS MIOS (not DML) to run GC backups from Configurable USB Loader.

DIOS-MIOS sucks to download.. it goes to some download site, asks me to select "free", I enter a Captcha, and it tells me I've reached max DLs for an hour, and tells me to sign up for a paid account

any direct DL Link to that?

thanks

but thats not a direct download, it links to some share download site, right?

and that download site I can only access through a Proxy since its blocked in my location, for whatever content reason. and then its probably that that gives me the error of reaching max downloads..

I Found another one Here: http://www.logic-sunrise.com/forums/files/download/4929-dios-mios-lite/

Can you confirm thats the same one? same size, same contents, same file size etc?

thanks for your help

sweet, thanks..

A few more questions:

1. ISO Compression is mandatory or not? and do you recommend it? how much compression can I get from a 1.5GB ISO? and then the compressor itself needs to be on the USB Drive to I guess Decompress the same ISO for gameplay? does that slow things down?

2. It says there it replaces cMIOS, so that means I can no longer play any games that are.. what? backed up on other Blank DVD Disks?

3 it says a DVD needs to be inserted into the Wii Drive, that means an Original GameCube Disk, or an Original Wii Disk? ANY disk? just a single game, any game, left always in the drive? and would the Wii System Disk work? what is the reason for that? anyway to not do that? and doesnt it mean that there will always be a game loaded in the Wii Channel, asking you to start it or update it?

thanks

It's not mandatory, and the amount of compression depends on the game.

2. It says there it replaces cMIOS, so that means I can no longer play any games that are.. what? backed up on other Blank DVD Disks?
It will replace the cMIOS. However, DIOS MIOS still allows the use of retail GameCube discs. If you rely on a cMIOS to play burned backups, they will no longer work since the cMIOS has been replaced.

Any DVD in the drive will do. Alternatively, there's a NoDisc patch you can apply in the CFG settings. When applied, some GameCube games won't need discs in the disc drive.

that'll work.. is the NoDisc patch just like an option you set with Configurator or something? or something you need to Download?

does the patch mean you no longer can play original GC disks?

and can it also play Original Wii Disks with DiosMios?

It's a setting in CFG. You'll see it.

DIOS MIOS installs to the MIOS slot. That means it will overwrite your MIOS or cMIOS, depending on what you have installed there. Having DIOS MIOS installed means you can play original GameCube discs and you can play GameCube images off a USB drive. You can't, however, play burned GameCube discs with DIOS MIOS; you need a cMIOS for that.

OK, I get it... thanks

Does it affect Wii Games at all, either Burned or Original Wii games?

What I mean to say is:

1. If I install DiosMios, no Burned Wii games will work right?
2. If I Activate the "No Disk" Patch, can I still read Original Wii Games, and / or Original GC Games? or does that literally mean "NO DISKS WILL WORK"?

DIOS MIOS has nothing to do with Wii games. All your Wii games, retail or backup, will work the same with or without DIOS MIOS. As for the "NoDisc" settings patch, that's game-specific. It's just a setting you can select in a particular GC game's game settings in CFG, like turning on cheat codes.

OK, i have another problem.. I cant get the DIOSMIOS to load from Bootloader

the DiosMios I downloaded, then unzipped, has a folder called "Dios Mios (Lite) 2.10"

I open that folder, and I get a list of the following folders:
DIOS MIOS Lite-SNEEK-DI_2.10
DIOS MIOS-xNEEK-DI_2.10
DIOSMIOS_2.10
DIOSMIOSLite_2.10

I open "DIOSMIOSLite_2.10" folder & I get the following:

source [Folder]
LICENSE
libeay32.dll
DMToolbox.exe
YCbYCr2BMP.exe
ReadMe.txt
DIOSMIOSLite_2.10.wad

I copied the entire DIOSMIOSLite_2.10 folder to my "USB:\apps" folder
and I copied the "DIOSMIOSLite_2.10.wad" to "USB:\" Root Directory

I launch Homebrew, and I dont see any DIOSMIOS option at all..

am I missing something?

is it supposed to be installed this way?

ok, thanks for any tips

Also:

1. Do my ISO files go into a folder at "USB:\games" , even though my WBFS files are in "USB:\wbfs" ? and if so, does Configurable USB Loader check in those two locations?

and 2. what about Cover Art? do i need to get those myself, or can I get them with a program like wiibackup manager? and what folder do I put those in??

thanks again

You want DIOS MIOS, not DIOS MIOS Lite. All you want to do is install the WAD.

1. Do my ISO files go into a folder at "USB:\games" , even though my WBFS files are in "USB:\wbfs" ? and if so, does Configurable USB Loader check in those two locations?

Yes.

Cover art is handled the exact same way it's handled with Wii backups in CFG. I usually just let CFG handle it.

If you're having difficulties, remember to follow this guide I linked to earlier: http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-p...s-from-sd-or-usb-using-dios-mios-lite.318585/

ok.. i forgot I had to launch my Wad Manager through InstForwarder...

that tutorial seems lacking info.. at least not as detailed as the one here: http://gwht.wikidot.com/dios-mios

but is it true you can only play with a GameCube Controller? the Wii Playstation-like Control that plugs into the Wiimote wont work at all?

and it says you also MUST have a GameCube Memory card? does that fit into an SD card slot? will any SD card work? and where can you even get the card or controller anymore?

thanks again

That's correct. If you want to use something that's not a GameCube controller, you must use Devolution, which requires retail discs of the games you want to play.

and it says you also MUST have a GameCube Memory card? does that fit into an SD card slot? will any SD card work? and where can you even get the card or controller anymore?
The GameCube memory card goes into the GameCube memory card port next to the ports for the GameCube controllers. If you have one of the newer models of Wii that does not have GameCube memory card/controller ports, you cannot use DIOS MIOS and you cannot play GameCube backups without using Devolution.

On a side note, you do not require a GameCube memory card for some games if you enable the NMM (No More Memory) setting in CFG. That will cause it to save the game to the USB drive instead of a GameCube memory card.

Oh, i found the Memory Card slots, i never opened that cover.. only saw the 4 gamecube controller slots.

but anyway, I put the game "Star Wars - Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast.iso" in the "usb:\games" folder, started up the Configurable USB Loader channel, but I couldnt find the game in there

does the game cover art have the "Wii" logo in the right top corner? is it given the same R#### or S#### numbering as the Wii Games?

any other setting i might be missing?

thanks
