Hello, dead forum. Even thought is place smells of stale socks, I will post this thread anyways. We used to have a forum for DS hardware (I BELIEVE) but its long gone now, i guess.

I have done one DS lite mod before, but it was simply for a clear case. This time however, I want to try the XMC Hyper gear. Has anyone ever used one of these, or even heard of it for that matter? Supposedly its additional hardware you install into your DS lite that allows your to run games at 140%, 170% faster, as well as regular 100%.

I am going to use a white shell for the outer pieces.

But for the inside, I want to use clear crystal to give the DS an "icy" feeling. As an added bonus, the clear shell up there in the link has LEDs which I would like to add. I dont really understand the description though. It says there are red and blue but down below, it describes yellow. I dont really get it, and I only want the blue for under the D pad and ABXY buttons.

As for the holes needed to access the rapid fire and overclock switches, ill probably machine them out with a drill press myself.

Now the problems.
>I dont know where the LED circuit goes and if there will be room to install the LED board and the XMC board.

>Where to find buttons that LED light can shine though?

>I am also in search of a good replacement battery for the DS lite. I imagine with all the shiz im running, (LEDs, XMC overclocking, as well as a DSTWO), the battery life will probably dip into the PSP life range. So if someone could point me in the direction of a good replacement or extended battery, that would be great as well.

I don't know about that, but there's the GBAccelerator DS that allows you to overclock 33% and 66% faster than normal speeds and that supposedly works well. Some soldering required though. That's why I haven't installed the one I bought for $25, as I realized my soldering skills were far too inadequate.
This thing probably works in the same way.

So before I go rampaging all though Google with the newfound info, why is it called GBAccelerator DS? Does it accelerate DS mode or just GBA mode on a DS?

EDIT: According to the first page google brought up, theres no way to know if the mod will work on your DS lite or not? wut.

I can confirm that this one works very well with a DS Phat.

However for the DS Lite the shell is the only option as the Accelerator won't fit inside the DS Lite.

Its called GBAccelerator DS due to being really similar in build/layout towards the original GBAccelerator.

Are you sure about this? The GBAccelerator DS had install instructions for both the Phat and the Lite. It's really tiny so there has to be some place it would fit. The instructions even showed you where to place it.
Maybe it was an earlier version that didn't fit?

Maybe the other guy is right, I just always assumed it was because it was made by the same people who made the GBAccelerator, and the design was likely similar.

Even if you would go through the trouble and make it fit somehow/attach it to the DSLites back...

Read the FAQ: http://www.division-6.com/learn/gbaccelerator-ds-faq.php

It states that not even all Lites will work after succesful installation:

Q: Will the GBAccelerator DS work on all DS and DS Lites?
A: All testing on the DS has worked fine. There have been some reports of DS Lites that crash when you try to speed them up. The problem is rare enough that we haven't been able to figure out a way to tell whether it's going to work or not before actually installing the GBAccelerator DS yet.

There is no way to tell if your DSLite would crash or not.

Also do NOT - under any circumstance - assume that the GBAccelerator and the GBAccelerator DS are the same thing. They are different.
