Hacking Gateway 3DS Crashes When Game Starts

Need help on gateway 3ds...

I am running on 4.5u
All the games seems to crash after loading.

Lego City Undercover - Freeze during first cut scene / Save game can't be accessed
Lego Batman - Crash during first cut scene / Save game can't be accessed
Mario Bros 2 - Crash immediately after loading / Freeze during first cut scene
Braverly Default - Crash after clicking new game (seems like save related)
Mario 3D Land - Crash after creating save

I believe these crashes got to do with the save game.

I tried on Apacer Class 10 8 GB , Transcend Class 6 4GB yet they give the same result

I know broie mentioned something on his edit 3 but i don't understand. Can anyone explain a little on how it works? http://gbatemp.net/threads/theatrhythm-final-fantasy-gw3ds-not-working.353349/

This is what gateway replied to me, don't seem any helpful. I will try to test on other microSD card. If that is the best way to get it work

1) Please try different brand micro SD
2) Please try cleaning the Red cards contacts with some rubbing alcohol and an ear bud
3) Please try inserting and ejecting the red card a few times (3-4) times in succession.

Finally if at all possible please try another console ?

EDIT1: tried step 2 and 3. I managed to play bravely default further but the game still freeze ocassionaly at either the first cut scene or it doesn't last you longer than 3-5 minutes of game play.

EDIT2: step 1 i bought a San Disk Class 10 8 GB yet problem persist. I don't think i can find another console. If i am that rich i don't even need a gateway I am leaning more towards i got a defect gateway.

There have been some unique reports of issues related to title exit or first GW3DS entry after installing the update. We believe these are either related to file fragmentation of the 3DS SD card or some users trimming the titles to fit on the red card's micro SD. Please make sure to try a new SD card for the 3DS as well as micro SD for the Gateway card together with a known good un-modified
title, where possible.

EDIT1: Could it be i strike a lottery and have a defective red card? 80 USD worth of defect red card? I had read that some users from the chinese forum are also experience the same issue (game freeze when game loads).

got same trouble with new super mario 2 ... on brand new sandisk 8gb
mario luigi dream and DK 3ds no problem (with same sandisk 8gb)

really strange

gateway seem very sensitive with some games ...

I had go through some forums and there are some people reporting that they have similar problem like mine where game keep freezing. Some even complaint they lost their save game on super robot wars or fire emblem.
If this is happening to some people but not all then it could easily be gateway is either too sensitive or fragile.

What a shame..

just to clarify: are you formatting the sd card in your gateway or the sd in the side of your 3ds?
(you'll want to format the one in the 3ds, not the gateway one)

Hmmm this is certainly a disconcerting situation. Have a lot of other users encountered freezing or save attempt problems? I may end up waiting for a more stable alternative to be released if this is the case.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did tried both (noob, format with 3DS and PC) but results are still the same.

When i was google-ing for solution, i managed to gather these problems from the Chinese forum

1) Game Freeze when game loads (similar to my problem)
2) Save game corrupt.
3) Gateway was working but stopped working after a while
4) Some is blaming on the welding works of the chip (not sure)
5) Some blame the card is defect and sent it back to the sellers.
6) Gateway freeze after putting 3DS to sleep mode (closing lid) or rom icon no longer displayed EDIT: i think putting the 3DS to sleep mode will crash the rom.

Why not? We have free CFW for the PSP. And now that the Gateway is reverse engineered it seems as though it's only a matter of time until Gateway can be reproduced via a free micro sd card solution.

Maybe a dumb think to check: Most sd cards have a little switch that prevents data from being written to the card. Make sure you didn't switched this on by inserting it.

Edit: Don't know for sure if micro sd cards have that switch?

MicroSD doesn't have those but i am pretty sure my SD card is writable.
I tested it by taking a picture and recording some stuff.

Now i am exploring the option by sending my gateway back to the seller for an exchange.

Well, i would check if the 3DS dumps are from ok, and trying it in another 3ds would be very usefull info too, i know i had a similar problem with a flashcard on my DS, it turned out that my DS was the problem...i shure was not counting on that. There must be a friend or a relative...or neigbour that owns a 3ds you can test it on?

Yeah, I will try to redownload the roms from else where.
People that i know actually don't play handheld/console games. I am the odd one.
My nephew/niece have upgraded from NDS/PSP to Tablets/Laptop.

My problem was I was using one of these USB adapters that comes bundled with a r4i 3DS to transfer the games onto the micro sd card.

and for whatever reason the transfer rate using these is awful slow, and that is what was causing my crashes, I also experienced it with mario kart 7 I couldn't get past the 3DS boot screen.
I used a conventional micro sd adapter instead and slotted it in the media reader on my laptop and transferred the games that way, they worked perfectly then.

So just to help others:

1) Can you state if this started happening on v1.0 or v1.1?
2) Can you use the verify option when writing to SD? This will rule out write errors like broie said

cmon cant be that hard, they are putting saves at the sd card to write back to the cart, why cant run rom from the sd card, just a matter of modify the exploit i think.

Or atleast an chinese cheap copy, maybe for $40

Try using the first version they released if you asked they might send it too you an try it on v1

All of these 'packed-in' readers are absolute garbage. Never, ever use them. I ran into the same problem many moons ago. Invest the extra $10.00 (sometimes cheaper) and get a quality reader/writer. It's totally worth the investment.
