FC30 Bluetooth Controller Contest: Week 1

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Hey...remember that sweet bluetooth famicom-like wireless controller that Costello posted about? Wipe that drool off your face, put your tongue back in your mouth, and pay attention. You can call me The Motherflippin Santa Claus, because it's Christmas in July! We have a total of 5 of them to give away over the course of 5 weeks. Each week will be host to one mini-contest. Yes, this means that YOU have the opportunity to get one of these hot little numbers in your hands before anyone else! Don't worry if you don't have the skills or the means to participate in one particular contest. I'll make sure there's a little something for everybody . Now, let's get down to business.

Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to submit a photo of yourself dressed as your favorite 8-bit or 16-bit video game character! You have until Saturday, July 27th at 11:59 PM PST to submit your photo.


Rules

1. Photos have to be of you, and ONLY you. (Animals are permitted)

2. Photos must have a sign (piece of paper, piece of cardboard, index card, parchment made from the grass on your front lawn, etc...) that has your username and date written (not printed) on it. You cannot photoshop this in. It must be included at the time the photo is taken.

3. In addition to your costume, you may use anything to accentuate your look. From real swords, to paper mache masks. Anything goes, really. (Well, almost) Again, these things may not be photoshopped in. They must be present in the original photo.

4. Characters original to the game (or game franchise) in question ONLY. For example, you may dress up as Steve Hermann from Shatterhand, but you may not dress up as The Noid from Yo! Noid (The character belonged to Domino's Pizza commercials before the game.) When in doubt, do some research. Did the character originally belong to something else before the game in question? If the answer is yes, it's not eligible for this contest.

5. Host all images either on imgur or filetrip.

6. With the exception of MINOR color correction, resizing, or cropping, absolutely, unequivocally, undoubtedly, and unquestioningly NO PHOTOSHOP. I know it's been said twice already, but seriously, some folks just need it spelled out for them. And when I say Photoshop, I mean any photo editing software. Don't be that guy. No one likes a smart aleck.

7. One entry per IP address, per person.

8. If you win this week, or any week in this event, you will be disqualified from winning any further prizes in this event. Nothing personal, just give someone else a chance to win, will ya?

9. If you break any of these rules, you will be disqualified. You will not know you have been disqualified, and no one except me will know that you have been disqualified. If the offense is serious enough, your name will be added to an internal blacklist, and you will be disqualified from participating in any other GBAtemp events.

10. I hate to be that guy, but judging by an incident that happened in the last contest, it needs to be said: If you remove your content after the contest is over (A.K.A: Take your ball and go home), you will forfeit your privilege to participate in any other GBAtemp events, including, but not limited to: Contests, raffles, tournaments, and giveaways.

My favorite 8-bits character? That would be Rod. Seems easy enough to dress up as him.

What? You don't know Rod? C'mon...if you had played against me on game boy, you would have. Heh...while you were just piling up things, trying to keep a low profile, I was stacking things. Not "just" stacking things, but actually preparing for Rod's arrival. Yes, I was usually a bit higher up. And 'cause that screen just showed my initial height, you might have assumed I was losing. You were wrong. I was waiting for Rod. Yes, there was the occasional mutter under my breath, hinting things weren't good. But they were. I wanted you to think that, just so I would throw you off your game when Rod appeared.

And when he did - and he ALWAYS did - the roles were suddenly reversed in the blink of an eye. You would stir up, not realizing what had just happened. This time, it would be YOU who shrieked. But not to derail me: because you weren't prepared. And me? Oooh, I would laugh at you. And in case you didn't know what happened (but you did. You always did)...I would even spit it out in diabolical laughter:

"Bwahahahaha!!! You didn't see that one coming, didn't you? "


Yup...I love Rod. Best character of that Era. And this is me posing as him (except not really):

heres mine! im a baseball player from the Pro Yakyu series for 8-bit and 16-bit era Pro Yakyu games. As you can tell by my garb I play for the Yakult Swallows, that jersey is exclusive and so is the hat. Hope this counts!

I can show you the pieces I used. It took me about 20mins to make.
I used a WALKMAN Wrist guard, a DANDYCASE for iPod Touch 5g, an old unused skirt (yes, really), A beanie, a hairclip (to hold the costume together), a black jumpsuit from WGI Drum Line Competition, Workout Gloves, and a poll I found laying in my garage
