Hello, I'm sort of new to the CFW community. I recently bought a psp since I'll soon be starting a sit down job. I figured I would try to get the most out of it I could so I installed the latest cfw on my psp 1000. The info on these forums was very helpful. Now that I have the cfw installed though, crisis core will not run properly. It freezes repeatedly on all the cutscenes and practically makes it unplayable. I don't have any plugins installed and I haven't changed any of the default settings due to I wanted to make sure I learned the basics before messing with anything. My google results only really came up with problems with emulating it to pc which doesn't help. This is the physical UMD disc and not a burnt copy or an eboot. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

I wish I had an answer for you - but I'd like to know as well. I'll probably be playing Crisis Core again after I finish FFVII straight from my UMD too, and I have CFW on my PSP 3000, official firmware 6.60. Here's to hoping the CFW didn't break my UMD too...

What's your official firmware?

Press "Select" on the XMB and choose a different driver. I forget what the option is called, but it might be set to Inferno if youre using PRO

It would be helpfull to know wich CFW are you using and what version of it, also take a look at the UMD ISO Mode from the VSH Menu, maybe changing that option and trying again, I just have my Crisis Core Working perfectly on my PSP 2000 with CFW 6.60 ME 1.8.

Hi, if you have the latest 6.60 CFW (there are many 6.60 CFWs, but regardless of whichever you have) it should have come with VSH Menu which you can enable by pressing the "Select" button on your PSP. After that is pressed, use the arrow keys to go down to the "UMD ISO MODE" and try changing that to either "Sony NP9660" or "M33 Driver" which will allow both ISO/CSO games and UMD games to be played. If neither works you can try attempting the other modes too.

This problem however probably resides with the CPU Clock Game speed which you can also change by going to the VSH Menu and going to the "CPU CLOCK GAME" option and then changing the clock speed from "DEFAULT" to "333/166" which should allow you to play the game properly. However, if it was not already on "DEFAULT", I recommend changing it to "DEFAULT" first and then trying again.

Good luck^^

Sorry, I wasn't aware at the multiple versions. My system info says I have 6.60 Pro-C2. I tried changing the settings to just about every different combination of the settings described above and none made it better, some settings made it worse, everything is set back to the way it was now.

try downgrading your cfw to a ofw and see if that helps

also is that the only umd game that you have? if it is try asking a friend to lend you one and see if that happens with there umd. if it does maybe its the psp 1000 umd drive that is failing

Just dump the UMD and see if that changes anything. Would be the next logical step...

That's quite the tall order... care to link to a tutorial?

Or might I suggest download a clean ISO? (Just don't ask us where to find it since we're not able to tell you, OP)

It's not difficult for any CFW PSP...

Insert UMD.
Push select to bring up VSH menu - change USB device to UMD. Close VSH menu.
Connect PSP to PC with a USB cable
Now when you view the PSP drive in your "My Computer" drive listings you can see the game ISO. Drag and drop it somewhere.
Et Voila - dumped ISO in no time with no other tools.
(Ensure you change USB Device back to Memory Card when you're done)

To clarify - you're dumping the games to your computer rather than the PSP's memory stick. If you want to go direct to a memory stick (which seems pointless if you're intending to create a library of UMD images) then you'll need to use something like ISO Tool as well.

Just rip all your UMD's and play through each one game by game, replacing each as you finish it...that way you'll never really need much more than 4GB.

I know, that's what I meant, it just came out wrong XD I do like to play multiple games at once, so having all on there would be nice.

You should just torrent it, you bought a real copy so its not like you didnt buy the game, it is the only FF game I have ever played, to bad I never finished it.

Which would be totally stupid if you already have direct access to the image you're "illegally" downloading. In the worst case imagine if you then get an ISP strike because of it...

Strikes don't happen like you think, and ripping can fail, miserably. I wasn't ever able to get a rip work. And if he can't get the game to run as a UMD then something is probably wrong with the game or his drive. If you own the Game then you are protected to some extent. Doubtful it will get a strike removed from you if it should happen, but honestly they are more worried about Music and Movies then PSP games that are not sold new anywhere any more.
