This is just a load of tree hugging hippie propaganda that is just trying to guilt trip the average guy while he is tucking into his steak or bucket of KFC for dinner.
No. Meat is an implied expression for dead meat. Dead = no thought.

I think I may have just found my new favourite word.
The universal litmus test for self-awareness used to be the mirror test, and surprisingly few animals managed to pass it. I'm guessing the prominent scientists in question concluded it wasn't reliable and came up with a new criterion.I thought it was common knowledge that many mammals possess states of cognitive awareness. It's only humans seem to demonstrate self-awareness in a striking degree. How we've defined self-awareness, its contingencies and necessities, has influenced whether we regard other animals as also possessing self-awareness, rather than mere awareness (for example, gophers, dolphins, and some kinds of octopus have exemplified use of semantic-based languages, but is this is a quality of self-awareness of basic cognition?).
Show me a person who believes animals are incapable of thought.ITT: "I knew it already, so that means it's a worldwide accepted fact."
