The wii mini is still not available in stores here in the US. While looking at some of the very few pics of the motherboard that I have found online, it looks like there is the ability to solder up an SD connector and possibly run smash stack. I've also noticed that it does have a NAND chip on it, although I can't find decent enough pics to know it's model number. I'd love to try to fuck around with one of these and see what I can find out about it.

Would someone be willing to send me theirs for me to fuck around with for a few weeks? Or would it be worth asking to do a TYM raffle type thing again?

Let me know what you think.

Firstly thanks.

I would, but it might be difficult to get it to you.
But I would be easily able to pay a few bucks into paypal ect..

It would be easier for people in the US, if they actually sold it here. It's being sold only in CANADA and I believe parts of Europe(don't quote me on that)

If all you have to do to get that sd socket to work is solder in a port, then they done goofed! If i wasnt a broke ass i'd buy one at futureshop and send it down, the only reason i have a wii is because i manged to trade and original xbox for it.

Given that Foez is in the US, it would be easiest to ship one from Canada rather than trying to send one from Europe (but don't look at me! lol)

Maybe Foez should change the title from "Anyone..." to "Any Canadians...", lol

There are the outlines of an sd card on the mobo, but the connections seem to be for a 20 pin smd connector. How do you intend to figure out the needed sd card signals? power and ground should be fairly easy, but the others... Are you aware of any sd card slot that ends up on such a connector? It's probably intended to mount a flex cable connector that goes to a small separate pcb with the sd card slot on it. Just my guess. Curious what you think about it.

If I had the money and time, I'd buy one for you at a discounted price (Working in retail ftw), but I wouldn't have time to conveniently stop at a postal office :c

If the connector is wifi, I assume you could reflash the nand with an infectus and add a wifi module.
You could modify it like that, but it's not an easy way. (Foez has the tools and knowledge for that..)
It would be the first modded upgraded wii mini...
Taking the price of a wifi module and the work into consideration, a second hand wii is simply a better option.

No lies some places the original wii is already impossible to find.

This poor confused guy has his labeled as "8gb hard drive capacity"
It wouldn't be a really nice thing to do but if you get really desperate, that's probably grounds for you to get your money back (and send it back if you're feeling guilty about it at that point)

(I don't know why these people sell these things so expensive, like they were some sort of collector's item or something.)

EDIT : ...not to mention the claim of wireless internet connectivity :P

I think the outline your reffering to is actually the space for a wifi module , if the pin out is anything to go by , also the wifi board has the same notched corner as would a SD card

wifi card : http://www.gamestuff.ca/images/cn-wii-wfb.jpg

unless Foez is looking in a different place on the mobo , but i cant see where SD would go.

You are correct. That is for the wifi. But there is still a chance. Bushing (or someone from TT) did label which pins go to where. As long as the pins that are meant for the SD card aren't grounded or dead ended then I should be able to hook up an SD card. I will not know until I have one of these wii not-so-mini's.
