You may think what does this have to do with the topic... Just let me get to the point... I make Windows games with Game Maker 8.0 Pro... And I want to port them to the DS, I've tried DS Game Maker, and it sucks. How can I make a Platformer without gravity options? And There's options to set variables, but they don't seem to work. And animating the sprites is hard as heck. But, most of all, None of the games created with it work on my R4! Bummer... They seem to work on No$Gba & Desmume though. Now here's the top of the sharpened pencil. Is there any way to take a game maker game (*.gmk) and 100% port it to an nds Rom (*.nds) file? I've seen there was something on another site that ports (*.gmk) files to (*.dsgm) files, which DS game maker uses. Bad idea as it does not work on My R4i Sd-Hc 3ds wifi. I believe it has the latest kernel software from http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/ That's also the site I got the R4...

I forgot to mention that I'm posting with an iPhone 4 as I am on a Road trip.

...because it requires you to use custom code to do anything more than a very basic game?
How can I make a Platformer without gravity options?
There's a tutorial on how to introduce gravity on the very first page of the Tutorials section - you use a collision map like everybody else.
And There's options to set variables, but they don't seem to work.
Yeah... they work.
And animating the sprites is hard as heck.
No it isn't - you just add frames of animation into the sheet - it doesn't get any easier than that.
But, most of all, None of the games created with it work on my R4! Bummer...
...you need a better flashcart?
They seem to work on No$Gba & Desmume though.
Good, then the code isn't borked.
Now here's the top of the sharpened pencil. Is there any way to take a game maker game (*.gmk) and 100% port it to an nds Rom (*.nds) file?
Nope.

The conversion will be buggy and inaccurate - it's not recommended. Just code in DSGM5 - it's a good starter SDK.

"R4i SD-HC 3DS WiFi" sounds terrible - your card is bad which is why homebrew compatibility is poor. If you're serious about DS development, you need proper tools - get yourself a DSTwo or an R4iGold from R4iDS.cn and then we'll talk.

I wrote several libraries for DSGM5 to incorporate RPG-style text printing, raster graphics in 8-bit mode with assorted picture transformation functions, pseudo-Mode 7, NitroFS use for loading resources of all sorts and even using 3D (that one was never released as it literally borked everything there was to DSGM apart from the custom functions. :P) and it certainly doesn't suck - it simply has a learning curve since it requires some programming knowledge, or at least understanding the concepts.

If you're willing to learn how coding games actually works, go here:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/ds-programming-for-newbies.322106/

It'll teach you the very basics - you'll know what to do from there.

Heh... not a whole lot better, but alright. You didn't really have to go out and buy a different cart, you could've tried HBMenu out first (which is a loader focusing on homebrew) but alright, it's a start. The rest of what was said still doesn't change - there's no efficient way to port Game Maker games to the DS, but you're more than welcome to read my guide (or any other that you may find) or post in the thread I linked in case you have any questions regarding coding for the DS - I'm sure the community (and myself) will gladly help in your first steps in game development.
