Now that homebrew may be possible in actual Wii U mode, what are the chances of being able to use something like Gecko OS for cheats in single-player game modes in Wii U games? Thoughts?

Anything may EVENTUALLY be possible but there's no real way to know. No one really has enough experience with Wii U homebrew yet to even know what where to start. (The few who know ANYTHING ATM are the ones who are building the HomebrU channel :P and they've been too busy IRL to even do that.) No one else has even touched the thing other than those making legit games.

A console gets hacked and instantly they think about cheats... god.

Imagine multiplayer...

Where are you getting that homebrew "may be possible"? If it is from the wiikey announcement and dumps then that is not the case.

he said single player not online, don't jump into conclusions, and i hope we get cheat codes for wii u games I've been wanting to hack nsmb u for a while now, game is boring without cheat codes, lets see what happens anyway.

Just to argue a little.... :P

We don't know, because the WiiKey team said they have... "completely reversed the file system".
If this means we can swap files (.dols) we could load some things, that most likely will not work without some coding alterations.

But, if we get the ability to alter an images contents there will be a lot of things we can do while we wait for a homebrew launcher of sorts. I did this with a wii and chip and gamecube discs before lauching homebrew was common place. (using emulators(save to gc mem card), mfe (media player played xvids etc burned onto the disc) and some other things)

A lot of things need to fall into place though. The team needs to have meant we can alter images and run them (a big if), we need a homebrew app and it's source to fix things that will be non working and a huge amount of luck and time.
