I've been messing with emuNAND lately and there's these two settings in USB Loader GX that I have no idea what they're for. Was hoping you guys could clear it up for me.

>Settings>Loader settings>Nand Saves Emulation
>Settings>Loader settings>Nand Chan. Emulation

...with the options for both being (OFF/Full/Partial)

>Instead of saving game data onto Wii it saves game data onto "virtual" Wii in SD card I think...(something like that.. I am unsure)
>I don't know this one... perhaps the same...?

One is the one setting it uses when it's running Wii games and the other is the setting it's using when it's running channels.

- Off is it doesn't emulate anything and gives it normal access to the Wii's real NAND.
- partial is it just forces it to use the emuNAND when it tries to access the game save files but let's it get everything else from normal NAND (like system settings and stuff like that.)
- full just means it makes it use the emuNAND for ALL attempts to access the NAND.

Is there any reason I would want to, or need to, access the realNAND when I'm running games/apps from the emuNAND?

You may want to use your real NAND for Mii, Wiimote settings, Internet settings, but only if you don't have it set correctly in your EmuNAND. For example, you create a clean EmuNAND with modmii, you want to play Mario kart using EmuNAND Save, but your Mii are on your Wii.
You can also just set "Partial" without creating an EmuNAND or dumping your NAND, in that case only the save path will be created on SD card, and there won't be any Wii settings, or Mii located on your SD Card. in that case you need to use "partial" mode if you didn't create a Full NAND.

If you just dumped your RealNAND, then all the settings are fine and there's no need to use the real NAND.
If you need to, in the Settings > Features, you can copy your Settings (SYSCONF) and Miis from RealNAND to EmuNAND.

That's only for Wii games.
like maxternal explained, there are Full (every access to NAND are redirected to EmuNAND) or Partial (only the save paths are redirected to EmuNAND).

For channels installed on EmuNAND, it should always be set to "full", as everything is installed on the EmuNAND, not only the savefile. So you should let the cIOS redirect everything to EmuNAND : saves, channels data and Shared Data (libraries for wii games installed only once in a single folder but used by all Titles).

If you look in the Settings > User paths, you would see that there are two possible paths for EmuNAND too. By default it's using the same one (SD/nand/), but you can separate the EmuNAND used to save the Wii game's, and the EmuNAND used to install/display/launch/savegames your installed Channels.
You shouldn't need to separate them, but it's available just in case a user want it.

For the anecdote : at first there were only Wii games supported for EmuNAND, so users had a path set for saving their savefile on SD card, and they were using another loader (triforce, mightychannel, sneek) with a different path to play installed channels on EmuNANDs.
When USBLoaderGX added support for Channel's launching, users asked that the loader maintain the two different paths, like they were used. it was only a convenience for users who already had two different folders so they could just "add" their exiting Channel folder to a EmuNAND "channel" path into the loader, and continue using the EmuNAND for Wii "save" game path they had.
If you are new to EmuNAND, you can use the same path without problem for both Wii game's save and channels.

Honestly, before just recently getting back into softmodding, my Wii wasn't doing a whole lot of anything. So as far as my Mii, or my originally created game saves are concerned, I'm not particularly attached to that data.

I just dumped my realNAND and created a Full emuNAND. I changed both my "Nand Saves Emulation" and "Nand Chan. Emulation" settings to FULL. I assume that these settings only take effect when I select "EmuNand Channels" as my "loader mode". Or does changing these settings to FULL cause USB Loader to access emuNAND for ALL loader modes?

I started to get confused when you mentioned "Wii Games." Are you referring to retail disc backups, or WiiWare games? Because I run all my retail disc Wii backups from the "Wii Games" loader mode, and I just assume that they're accessing the Wii's realNAND for everything. (Please correct me if I'm mistaken.) I only use emuNAND for VC and WiiWare games. Which now leads me to the question, If I want to play WiiWare games online, and my Nand Chan. Emulation settings are set to FULL, do I need to export SYSCONF to EmuNAND? Or should I just set those specific games to "partial"? Also, when there's a WiiWare game that a requires a Mii, and I didn't export Miis to EmuNand, will the emuNAND auto generate a random Mii file, or will it prompt me to create one?
