Usually I leave it on the charger, unless I'm moving around the house. So it isn't a bother.

You know you can change that in options, right?
Yeah. But it's not like I want it disabled. It's just that sometimes I want the Wii U left on and sometimes I don't mind :P

I would love to cut the cord so, yeah, pre-ordered that replacement battery a month ago and am waiting feverishly for it to arrive :P

Well hopefully that power pak is still coming out on 3/22

I got Wii U on Sunday and battery life is ok but I have had to cut gaming sessions to charge or plug in. Nyko is promising triple battery life and that would just be awesome (along with having a spare fully charged battery this should allow WiiU gaming to my hearts desire)

Well I was looking forward to getting that power pak today but Gamestop website now changed release date to 3/25

After poking around it looks like this thing has been delayed several times...hopefully comes out soon but I am thinking April now.

Maybe I should just try the U boost.....

Well this stupid thing still isn't out yet. I did a pre order at GameStop and it was supposed to come in today. They weren't sure why it didn't but I checked the GameStop website and now it's saying April first. They told me to call back tomorrow but I doubt it's going to be there.

GameStop just called me about my pre order power Pak. They said its delayed until may 1st. That's lame but they said the they would give it to me free (well they will prolly keep the $5 deposit). That's cool.

Hopefully May 1st is the real date, game stop was changing the date only a few days at a time since I have been watching the date and going all the way to May 1 is a big jump.

Also the emplyee who called me had contacted corporate and that's the info they had. I am glad I am getting it for free but am still really eager to get a hold of this. For games that require the gamepad like Lego City I have been draining my battery constantly and having to choose to plug in, which is a hassle and always has me worry about some one tripping on the cord and damaging the gamepad or charger, or cutting the gaming session short.

I will probably order the battery pack, but only after several people do battery life tests vs. the stock battery. I use my gamepad all the time for watching movies and TV shows (via VidiiU and Plex,) via the Web Browser and the Amazon Video app.
the stock battery needs to be charged after a few hours of this so a extended battery would be nice IF it actually does at least 2x longer then the stock battery.

From what I have seen reported the U boost which is available now does indeed double your battery life.

The extended battery (Power Pak) is promising to triple it.

If I ever get my hands on it I will time it and post in this thread.

The only problems I've had is when I've gotten addicted to Lego City, Skylanders, or MH3 and didn't realize so long had passed untill the controller dies.

With MH3, it doesn't bother me, as I play with the Pro Controller anyways. Even if the GamePad dies, I still just use the pro controller.

Current battery technology is still pretty much tied to the physical size. The official Nintendo battery is rated at 1500 mAh and the Power Pak at 4000 mAh. As you can see, if the Power Pak is properly rated, it will provide more like 2.66 times the battery life and that seems believable based on their physical size. I'm gonna want one of those once MH3U's April update comes around. I'm surprised an extended battery wasn't already offered considering all that wasted/empty space in the battery compartment.

I had to stop playing a few times just to connect the cable, but nothing bothersome.
