Given that the WUP-013 battery has long since left official production, and is therefore more expensive than it used to be, a whole load of third-party batteries have flooded the market, but how many of them are legitimate? I heard that the High-Capacity Battery is physically the best Lithium-Ion capacity you can fit into that space, and other batteries are claiming to have higher capacities (so they might well be scams) - are there any good alternatives, or would paying for an official one be the only way to get a bigger battery reliably?

I got one of those third-party battery a few months ago since my gamepad's original battery already died and couldn't hold a charge. I was actually surprised when the third-party battery was bigger because I didn't know there were larger battery capacities that are compatible with the gamepad. Thankfully, the installation was fairly easy and so far, I didn't have any problems with it. I couldn't say if the battery lasted about 4 hours in a single charge though since I never played the Wii U for that long ever since I got the battery.

I had great luck with the Pickle Power 6600mAh Wii U Gamepad Battery,. I found it on Amazon.

Install took under 3 minutes and it lasts for 6+hours. 5 stars.

Tear the original battery apart (Danger! Not for noobs)
keep the board, buy a 3rd party cell, preferred to be 955465 of size, with + and - leads,
solder the leads onto the board
Volla!
