Hardware Question about 3DS Update messages

Every time I turn on 3DS, they keep asking me do I want to update. I disabled StreetPass, SpotPass, and WiFi swich is off and yet they still tell me I should install update. Is there any way to disable that annoying message? I am tired of it, and I am afraid someone will click yes and update it when I am not home so I must disable it. Tried with Parental Cotrols and no option. Looked everyware and I can't find solution. I don't want to update to latest one because If I do, then I might as well say good bye to region free one day and homebrew.

It's already downloaded the update. The ability to remove that prompt (after it's downloaded) was disabled.

Just update your flash carts / AR / whatever in preparation, do the update, and never put the 3DS online again so it doesn't happen anymore.

No way. 3DSBrew says its not safe to update if you want hacked 3DS (which I truly want). So I will have every time to click no? I hope I wont find my 3DS one day with message that I MUST install update

They said they were not going to release the hack that they were working on, which is the one that was blocked by 5.x.

They don't "have to" anything. They might make and release something else, but the kernel-mode hack they made, the one that was blocked, is the one they said they were not going to release anyways.

Can you link me where they said they won't release it? Also was the blocked update reason or something else? Still, Just in case, I am not updating. Its just annoying that they keep asking me every time I turn on 3DS

They said they weren't going to update it well before the 5.x, because a kernel exploit means the capability to have a ROM loader written, and they don't want that.

We were originally told they will not release it back in December.

There is no indication whatsoever that normal users on 5.x will lose out on stuff because nothing was slated to be released in the first place. The warning not to update seems to be intended for other 3DS hackers instead, since they want to maintain access on their machines to continue documenting the 3DS itself, and they need kernel-mode for that type of stuff.

Well, I hope someone in future will hack it and share it because I just want region free gaming and nothing more. As for update that is downloaded on my 3DS, Is it downloaded on memory card? If so, will formating memory card result downloaded update files to get removed?

You could try removing your SD card and then turning on the 3ds to see if it asks to update

No way. I made mistake with PS3 and that is not repeating with 3DS. I want to be prepared when someone releases a hack, because Region Free is really important for me

Thats why I am praying that some hacker soon tells us all that he has been working in secret and that he hacked 3DS completly and that he is ready to share. If I buy the game that will force me, I will be really mad at that and might save my YouTube payment and buy Japanese 3DS.

Guys, I removed SD card, and I no longer recive message. I left 3DS off for one night and tomorrow morning I turned it on and no annoying message. Now, I want to remove downloaded update from my SD. Can I do that If I put SD card in SD Card reader on PC, or does 3DS have option to format SD?

if the 3ds is telling you to reboot to finish the update the update may already be "installed"

No, The Update is not installed. It is just downloaded (apperantly on SD card) I rebooted 3DS many times and in settings it says I have 4.5.X.X-E

gonna order SD card reader because It is really important to me to stay on current version. I belive someone will one day share Hack that will allow me region free and I must be prepared.

I'm on 4.4.0-10U, and I keep getting the nag screen about every 24 hours, which isn't really a bother to me to hit cancel, and OK. But finding the download on SD and deleting it rather than formatting my SD would be a more ideal option... I too, am holding off on updates in wait of 3DS liberation. I stayed on 3.15 on my PS3 up until a hacked 3.55 brought back OtherOS++. I by waiting on a hack to be released for my PS3, I really didn't miss a thing. I don't use PSN, and I don't use the Nintendo eShop. Nothing of value is lost.
