Today, Rydian has released WoodEVERYTHING. This revolutionary port of Wood brings the ability to play DS games to almost any device imaginable. Originally started as a project for the PC, WoodEVERYTHING has panned out to multiple devices, both portable and stationary.
Rydian said:Originally I just wanted to port Wood to my PC so I could play games faster than No$GBA 2.9 could play them, so I did that. It took a few weeks, since No$GBA 2.9 is already so fast, but thankfully Raulpica lent me a hand with some of the functions!
Rydian said:Then I realized I wouldn't be able to play Barbie's Adventure Horse Racing on the toilet! So I had to port it to something portable... I chose Android since I happened to have the SDK installed. This was a bit of a chore, since as we know Android runs on Java 1:1, has no hardware acceleration, Java is the slowest language out there, and the pixie gnomes that power Android devices don't like being overworked. I powered through it though, and the first portable port was done!
Rydian said:While tapping out how to ride a horse on the toilet fulfilled one of my lifelong ambitions, the lack of hardware controls became an obvious problem. So I decided to port it to the PSP. I figured since the PSP is 5,000 times faster than the DS, I shouldn't have to worry about that Michael Jackson AP in the latest Pokemon X ROM release.
Rydian said:Once I had that port running with 9x fast-forward speed possible, I realized I didn't give anything to those poor console owners! Not actually having any consoles (#pcmasterrace) I figured I might as well port it to the one device console owners and I have in common: TV. The control mappings were a little weird, and I had to program in all 50,000,000 control codes for the various remotes, but hopefully games are playable if you hold your remote sideways like with the Wii.
Rydian said:At this point I realized my grave mistake: Nothing I ported it to was actually pocket-sized! So since the only thing I have that will fit in a watch pocket is my MP3 player, here's a picture of the port to the Sansa Fuze V2. With Rockbox's coding magic, you can even play your own MP3s on top of the game!
