Gaming Wii remakes on 3DS?

Nope

Porting from a scratch is a remake? This does not make any sense.
Port =/= Remake

That's what I'd call a definition of a remake, not a port.

Porting means getting the original source code of the game and changng it to adapt the new device's needs.

Understand now?

So in other words, he didnt use the same exact words so its not the same meaning?

Do you know the definition of reworking?

re·work transitive verb \(ˌ)rē-ˈwərk\

Definition of REWORK

: to work again:
a : revise
b : to reprocess (as used material) for further use

Porting from scratch is a remake, because your, get this, REMAKING the game. Porting just means your recompling the source to a different format, often REWORKING, parts of the source in order to make it work on the new platform.

The only difference is that he said reworking where you said "changing" and "adapt".

Pretty much this. When I said "reworking," by no means did I insinuate that the original code wasn't involved.

Though I think it's fair to note that, as similar previous conversations have proven, what constitutes a "remake" or a "port" can be pretty murky.

There is a key-word you seem to ignore:
Porting basically means that you're completely reworking the game

If you're completely reworking the game, you will not use a single thing from the original code, which is the perfect example of a remake.

There is no such thing as porting from a scratch, it's contradictive.
Porting means adapt the code, you may change some few things, but most of the original code already there, with few adaptations necessary to work on that system and that language.

Im sure there are some games that could be dumbed down to work on the 3DS. Like Xenoblade.

Hes obviously saying completely to augment the word rework, stop acting like hes talking is a whole other language, its not contradictory in anyway, in fact, its essentially the most basic definition of a remake. If you have any concept of grammar then you would know he also clarified himself by saying "(Or porting from scratch as remake)" and either way, if he was wrong, it didnt demand a fucking paragraph of you explaining something he already showed he understood.

Now if you dont mind, this pointless argument is taking up good time I could be putting into Bioshock Infinite.

To be fair I also think xwatchmanx didn't choose the best words to describe port/remake. But now that we know what he really meant, I don't think there's any need to be pointing fingers at who is wrong or who is right. Also, we have people from different countries here, sometimes someone says something that someone might not fully understand because of linguistic or cultural differences.

Some Wii games like New Super Mario Bros and Monster Hunter have 3DS versions that are exactly similar to the Wii versions and could be ported with less graphic quality. Based on how OoT:3D looked like on the 3DS, Nintendo could easily port N64 classics. I think GC games are too new to start making ports, at least on the 3DS that is.
Yeah, Wii games can be ported but GC is out of the question

You read that wrong, he said GC (same with the Wii) are too recent and doesn't need porting unlike N64 where there's much more room for visual improvements.
In the first half of his post he just mentions how porting Wii games slightly lowers the visual quality since ports doesn't take advantage of the 3DS strong points such as the better lighting capabilites among other things.

But MH3U does.

Improve on the visual quality over the Wii? If so there was more going on in development than just quickly porting it.

Either way the Wii is stronger in some areas but not enough for me to see it as a more capable machine because of the more modern GPU in the 3DS, which can really up the visual quality when used right. I can to an extent sacrifice some polygons and textures for better lighting and visual effects, it's going to be played on a smaller lower res screen so the latter has a much bigger impact on quality than polygons do.

This has nothing to do with grammar. Your grammar definition doesn't prove a shit (Rework =/= Remake).
Both port and remake can fill under the category as rework.

Why is it so difficult to say he didn't choose the best words to difine port and remake?
There is no such thing as porting from a scratch, if he and you had any knowledge about programming you would clearly realise how much contradictive it is.

3DS is capable of producing better graphics than the gamecube, if you have any doubt at all just compare gamecube's Resident Evil 4 with 3DS's Resident Evil Revelations. As developers get more experience with the 3DS I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3DS graphics get better than Wii's and, who knows, even getting close to PS360 graphics.

Hemm.........Sorry, but if they can successfully port such a brilliant Wii games as Donkey Kong Country returns, what would stop them from porting GC classics ?
Remember we are talking about porting, not emulating, those are two very different things.
Remember Super Mario 64 was also successfully ported to the DS.
When the job is done by Nintendo themselves, there is no limit to what we might see.

Personally I'd love to see the Metroid Prime trilogy in 3D, or the Super Mario Galaxy games !
They might be too new to be ported to the Wii U, but it would be a perfect excuse to make them portable ;)

Not all 3DS ports looked better than the original. Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater was ported from the PS2 to 3DS and the 3DS version has framerate problems.

That is called lazy porting... I am sure Konami could have made a better job porting this game to the 3DS

Would you just drop it, dude? Everyone in the room who's said anything (except you) thinks that I may not have chosen the best wording, but knows exactly what I said. There's no reason to drag it on and on and on.

I understand what you meant, same as everybody, but I wanted to hear it right from the bull's mouth.
You know you could easily end this been humble and saying that you did not choose the best words, instead you hid yourself on Zantiago's shadow, liking every single comment he made.

Now let's end this there is no need to derail the topic even more.

About the topic, I would love to see a port of Kirby Retun to Dreamland.
I don't have a Wii, so for me the more ports they do, bettter it will be.

So in other words, you were just being anal about it ;o;

In other words, you were being an arrogant, elitist ass who for some reason cared so much that I "admitted" to being "wrong" about something absolutely insignificant, like a choice of words, something that you never even really pointed out in the first place (someone else, rodrigodavy, did)? I didn't even realize you cared SO MUCH and that was all you wanted here.

Bravo.
