I want to soft mod it so I can run PS3, PS1 and PS2 backups off my external or possbily through the system its self via disc back ups! my current firmware comes at 4.40 US, I'd like some information on how to go about doing all of said above, I have a PSP Slim 2001 and I soft modded it in like seconds!

Any links and or help would be great!

that depends on what ps3 it is
as of right now you have the possibility of flashing but it requires soldering

look on the back where the black sticker is and get the model no.

ok here are the number I found:

serial number: CE128252985-CECHA01

I think the CECHA01 is the model maybe other than that theres only the FCC ID and the IC!

You have to buy a E3 Flasher in order to downgrade the PS3. That involves;

Opening the PS3 up.
Installing the E3 Flasher.
Following a guide for the E3 Flasher to downgrade it.
Install CFW once downgraded.

A bit harder than the PSP's softmods.

You CANNOT use E3 Flasher on model such as CECHA01. Early batch of PS3 Phat uses NAND memory module instead of NOR memory module, and E3 Flasher CANNOT be used on NAND based PS3.

Your only option with these NAND based PS3 is to use other hardware downgrader such as Progskeet or Teensy. They all require some degree of soldering (if using respective clip, requires soldering 1~2 wires to power the flasher). I recommend you look for someone that offers downgrade service for NAND based PS3 and pay a fee for the service. They are simply a lot harder to downgrade than NOR based PS3.

For those who want to know whether their PS3 Phat is NOR or not.

General rule of thumb, if your PS3 has PS2 BC, it is NAND based.

E3 was supposedly working on a NAND solution but I don't think it was ever released. I would go with progskeet

Just get a slim model which you can downgrade, they last longer and can also play ps2 backups now using the latest multiman!
