Perhaps DirectX needs to be reinstalled? Tell him to give it a shot.
Also, no worries when it comes to piracy. GBAtemp hosted GBA roms temporarily back in the day (Now you know why it's called GBAtemp).

Hmm im using DirectX 11....Why it effects the game?He said everything was perfect before he got Seasons expansion or something like that.

Seasons had some bad bugs,
Macs would get 5mins then crash

was all fixed with the 1.50.56 update
so update it and should be good

Next to that, uninstall Seasons if that's the last thing that went in before it stopped working. Or before that, simply apply the latest update and get the crack for said-update if necessary.

The Sims 2 is very finicky when it comes to its expansion packs. Each expansion pack changes the way that Sims data is saved, and so installing them out of order or uninstalling one may make your data unreadable. Many times people will install the latest Sims game, try to downgrade back to what they used to have, and find that suddenly they can't access any of their files. When you install Pets, your sims become "Pets Sims". When you install Seasons, your sims become "Seasons Sims". If you uninstall, they remain "Seasons Sims". And Pets can't read Seasons Sims, it can only read Pets Sims.

Sometimes if you were messing around while trying to get it installed, you may have uninstalled and reinstalled Sims expansions a few times. Your data could be deleted or in the improper format as the result of installing the expansion packs in a strange order. This is why Maxis always says to keep backups of your data :sweat:

If you still have your data (Check the "C:documents and Settings::My documents:EA Games:The Sims 2" folder for the sub-folders "Downloads", "Neighborhoods", "Projects", and "SavedSims") then you may be able to recover it. Make a backup of these four folders immediately, then fully uninstall the Sims 2 (and every expansion). You then have to reinstall the game and expansions (in order) one at a time, and each time put a copy of those four folders back into place to see if the game will load the data. Eventually, when you install the expansion pack that correlates to the type of data your sims are saved as, the game will load and you'll see all your files. Now continue to install the other expansions (in order!) and each time it will give the classic warning to back up your data and say that it changes the format in which it's saved.

Is he using any mods or custom towns?

Next to that, uninstall Seasons if that's the last thing that went in before it stopped working. Or before that, simply apply the latest update and get the crack for said-update if necessary.

Yeah few mods but i was using them before this happaned also...and i will try updating
