ya 100% agree there were so many you could still be playing ones to this day that you never did before. Too bad nintendo of today is not like nntendo of yesterday, same with square enix they need to go back to being square soft and not just milking the FF series to death over n over with re releasing FF13 twenty times .

Tales of graces & The Last Story did it for me.(Also Clean Keepers visual novel game, but that isn't an rpg )

I wasn't the one who first said it was an RPG. It was someone on the first or second page. I'm not the one who can't move on, you (and like 5 other people) are. I've quoted this before and you have ignored it:

It's still considered an ARPG by many (certainly not a traditional RPG though), but just to get things moving, let's say I'm wrong and you are right. What matters for this topic is what the OP thinks.

@Zelosboss Where you asking to help decide on games to buy? If so, do games like Zelda fall into the category you were looking for? That would give us advise.

Because it's not an opinion. RPGs have a clearcut definition that Zelda does not fit. It's not bad because it doesn't, it's just a different genre. No big loss.

The Last Story, good voice acting (the British accents help a lot, and aren't the whiny "Why me!? I'm the hero!" voices that plagued Star Ocean 4), and Nobuo Uematsu composed the soundtrack.

I loved the voice acting in TLS. The dubbing was excellent. It was better than a lot of games written in English. For awhile, I thought that they must have redone the cutscenes to fit the voices. It also has a great story.

Definitely one of the best RPGs in a long time, this game is how the newer Final Fantasy games SHOULD have been like. The fact that Hironobu Sakaguchi worked on it makes it all the better.

This thread has gotten progressively worse since I last came here, people saying Mario RPG is not an RPG and that any info found on wikipedia is not credible.

I haven't played Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World even though I loved the original since the popular opinion on it seems mostly negative but with people on here ranking it highly maybe I should give it a chance. I also wanted to try out Tales of Graces but from what I've read it does not seem to be fully translated.

As far as dubs go, the English version of Arc Rise Fantasia > all.

the only zelda that can remotely be considered an rpg is zelda 2. It at least had a leveling system in place. And maybe I'm wrong but I thought action rpgs had real time battle systems like the tales series or star ocean games had.

Except it has no RPG aspects. That's like saying God of War is an action RPG.

Actually God of War is more of an action RPG than Zelda because you can actually level up your weapons and powers and shit. But no one calls it that.

For some reason people make the distinction that Zelda is a "RPG" yet Zelda-like games (such as Darksiders) would never get that distinction despite being more RPG-like.

You take a role, and play a game, getting stronger with every progress the game makes, accompanied by an epic story, exploring a vast world. How is this not an RPG?

So technically every game is a RPG since you play the role of a character?

That's like saying every game is an action game because action is being performed.

EDIT: Also "vast world" and "epic story" are hardly things Zelda has.
