One of my ebay orders came today, a kit of goodies, including protective screen covers and a USB cable. I plugged in the USB cable into my computer, but nothing happens except the DSi Starts charging. Is that the only thing that I can do with the USB cable?

Second question, the protective screen cover: After I put them on, the touch capability of the DSi stopped working, I suspect that the cover is made of the wrong material? Aren't the touch screens capacitive? I am shocked that a Hong Kong manufacturer would sell something that doesn't work like this?

The USB cable has no use other than charging as that's the DSi's dock's only purpose. As for the protective screen, if your touchscreen stopped working then I'm guessing the screen is too thick - you should ask for a replacement screen. Are you sure though? Have you re-calibrated the screen after applying it? It should work at least a bit.

lol, wow:lol: ... the same question: http://gbatemp.net/threads/ds-plugged-into-computer.341561/
You made the post first though, congrats. :yaynds:

As for the second question. I believe that you might have it placed incorrectly or that the person sold you one that isn't made properly.

Edit:
Are you referring to a screen you put on the outside of the DS or one that you put on the inside (opening the DS)?
I was thinking you were referring to one that goes on the inside (I have done this recently).
More specifically, is it made of a soft plastic (screen guard) or a hard plastic (replacement screen).?

Doh, I've been away from this forum for a few days, sorry for not replying. Yes, it is a soft plastic screen protector, just like you get for iPhones and other devices.

DS screens are resistive (unfortunately).

The cable is for nothing but charging.

If the screen doesn't work right with the screen protector on try recalibrating it.

Recalibrating when there is NO response, whatsoever, how do you recalibrate and can it damage the unit? I don't want to risk a bricked device.
