Hacking Do not buy R43DS card Made by R4I-SDHC.com

Just a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing a R43DS made by R4i-SDHC.com

I have been waiting for an Update to the R43DS card i purchased not long ago and so far they have not upgraded the Firmware but they have released a new card

All signs point to them wanting a new card to be purchased and not bothering to update the firmware (such as the new card was available within days of the 3DS firmware update - which suggests they were just waiting for it and not working on an update)

I have posted the question of updates a few times on games engine but they keep deleting the posts and just advise users to purchase the new cards.

They have promised the update on the website since the 8th of December last year but still push the sale of the new cards , and have even quoted that the new card can never be blocked (but i assume that will be incorrect when they want to sell a new revision card)

I have now ordered a DSTwo and would advise everyone to do the same thing
even though its more expensive , if the R4-SDHC team do this every so often the DSTwo will have worked out cheaper in the long run and its miles better anyway

This happens with all the time with R4 Clones (and even some non-R4 clones)
Even the better ones like the R4i Gold from http://www.r4ids.cn/. It's not really new.

Most people already advice not buying them, since it's pretty much common knowledge that 90% of the R4 cards out there are crap.

most r4 cards werent able to patch themselves out of the last update. however, i felt pissed too when they had a new card ready in days, probably expecting something like this to happen, but not bothering using the new card with the extra chip in any of the last revisions (the last one being for the 4.4 update)

also, once they make the connection between stupid idiots willing to buy 3 4.4 cards and a month later, buy 3 4.5 cards for christmas, they may do this again just because they can.

i too am a bit annoyed about this NON update and a new version of the cart launched..
I have been buying the r4i-sdhc.com clone r4 for the past 3 years.... i have found them the best of the cheap clone R4 suppliers (they are the expensive end of the cheap r4 clones)
I have always found that they update there carts with fixes and are very active and informative about this..... a cart bought from them 3 years ago with can be updated (up until xmas) to run all ds and 3ds firmwares!!!
But this is longest time they have taken to bring out a fix!!!!
They still have a message on teh site "wait for new release of patch" it has never taken this long!!!!
i have emailed them in the past and they have always repleied back( although it takes a week)
But i sent an email 10/01/13 and still have had no reply....
They also usualy have a monthly or 2 weekly patch for non working games, but this also hasnt happened in over a month! teh site has had NO updates of any kind since 12/08/12
Hopefully some statment will be made soon!!!

Well, sadly, we can't do anything about it. Buying a cloned R4 is your decision, and only few of them stay alive (one being the R4i Gold) http://r4ids.cn/

There was an update today apparently, but I have yet to test it. Their site claims it does support V4.5, and r4wood says it doesn't :/

1. Support RTS (Realtime save features).
2. Support RTG (Realtime guide features). Support text and picture type.
- Text type: txt, file name same as game file name.
- Picture type: bmp, file name same as game file name. Size:256x192
3. Support 3DS V4.5

*Remark: RTS, RTG features only applicable for the new card which label RTS.

it wont make the old cards work on new firmware though.

sorry to bump this but i really should confirm:
if you dont have the new 4.5 card you will NOT be able to use the card anymore after the 4.0.5-10 update. i can confirm this because i just bought my card 4 months ago and it doesnt work anymore. the card will not update at all. when you laod the new firmwar/kernel/whatever its called, onto the card, the card wont recognise it as a firmware update. after my card stopped working on my 3ds i immediately got my brothers ds-lite to update the r4 and no matter what i do, the card says i have the latest version (which is not 1.65b).

TL;DR: DO NOT UPDATE YOUR 3DS IF YOU WANT TO USE AN R4I-3DS FROM R4I-SDHC (unless you buy the brand new 4.5 model -.-).

also, i would not recommend these blokes for anything. they barely reply to emails from their customers and when they do, they give you some smart ass answer to your problem that doesn't help. buy a ds-two.... i know i will when i can put money in my bank account on monday...
