I been reading other sites, and a LOT says the ipad mini (ios 6.0.1) has no jailbreak... true? Even Tethered/Untethered?

I see redsn0w & sn0wbreeze seems to be able to jailbreak tethered the 6+ ios devices... I plan on jailbreaking my new ipad mini this weekend but want to have the fact straight lol

thanks!

redsn0w (and all other jailbreaking utilities that can jailbreak iOS 6) can only jailbreak devices with an A4 or earlier processor, as the jailbreak utilizes the limera1n exploit that was patched in the A5 processor that was introduced in the iPad 2. The iPad Mini also uses the A5 processor, so it is not vulnerable to the limera1n exploit, and, therefore, cannot be jailbroken by any public utility.

In short, you can't jailbreak the iPad Mini, yet.

I was looking into this, might I assume that there is no jailbreak available for the iPad 2 on iOS 6.0.1? There is a billion results in google, every single one of them seems to be complete missinformation. I can't even downgrade to 5.1.1 as I don't have blobs for 4.x :(

The iPad 2 is not jailbreakable on ios 6.0.1.

Well, 6.0.2 supposedly fixes Wi-Fi problems (I've seen some reports that iOS 6.0.2 didn't fix Wi-Fi at all), but at the cost of battery life.

If the battery life is giving you trouble, Apple is still signing iOS 6.0.1 for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini. If you're already on iOS 6.0.1 and want to give the update a try, it's probably safe (in terms of security, nothing changed between the two versions and you can still downgrade to 6.0.1).

I currently own an iPhone 5 and it is on 6.0.2 update. I tried doing a tethered jailbreak using redsn0w v0.9.15b3 and I downloaded two different IPSWs (6.0 and 6.0.2). Before I could even do any of the jailbreaking process I started by selecting the 6.0 IPSW and it said it was no compatible with the version of redsn0w, I tried the 2nd IPSW and got the same message.

Am I doing something wrong or is it simply not possible to do a tethered jailbreak on the iPhone 5 yet? am I too updated? (6.0.2)

I have my iPhone 5 updated to 6.0.2. It does have better Wi-Fi, but still not as good as the 4S at 6.0.1.

Battery wise, it's going down a bit faster than 6.0.1, but it's still okay for me.

Sorry for double post

Here's my battery life, currently at iOS 6.0.2 44%

It's still a lot better than the 4S. Bluetooth and LTE were always on and brightness is at 40%.
To be honest, I'm very impressed.

I may be purchasing my first iphone today (4s). Will there be a way for me to jailbreak it right off the bat? I heard the newest update doesn't have a jailbreak yet.

Assuming your device will be on 6.0 or higher (which it almost certainly will be), there is no public jailbreak available. If it is on 5.1.1 or below, you can use abs1nthe or redsn0w.

Alright. So I'd just have to downgrade, otherwise?

You can't downgrade from 6.x to 5.x; Apple isn't signing iOS 5.1.1 for the iPhone 4S anymore.

On a completely unrelated note, Apple stopped signing iOS 6.0.1 for the iPad mini and iPhone 5.

Oh well. Is there any hope for a jailbreak with this ios in the future? It seems like jailbreaks come for every ios eventually. Or at least the majority.

There is some hope, fortunately. :) Planetbeing actually has an untethered jailbreak for 6.0.2 on an iPhone 5. It's not being released though, since one of the exploits that's used can help them with future jailbreaks, including 6.1 (which may be around the corner). (Source)

Thank you very much the info! :D

Would anyone be able to answer my post I made a few days ago please?
