I looked around for a bit, and I hadn't seen anyone bring up the idea of a Wii U Pro Controller connecting to a PC. I know it has a USB port, which raised the thought.

I'll probably try it out in the eventuality that I get a Pro Controller or three (lol, eventual Smash Bros.), but if anyone could/has confirmed that it does or doesn't work, that'd be cool to know.

I use my wired 360 controllers and I've also got Dualshock 3's connected to the PC for any manner of emulation and Steam-available platformers, though I'd welcome an additional option for controllers. Plus, it'd let me carry around fewer controllers (or even just a different selection) when I'm traveling about, so that's always a good thing in my book.

It's not possible at the moment, below you will find a quote from WiiUBrew.org

Currently the bluetooth pincode of Pro Controller is unknown, therefore it is not yet possible to authenticate with a PC, Android, or iPhone yet.

Assuming its standard bluetooth, couldn't someone just brute force their way into getting the pincode? Most bluetooth pincodes are 4 digits, it should be a maximum of 10k attempts....

According to wikipedia "Any 16-byte UTF-8 string may be used as a PIN code", and I don't think we can assume it's alphanumeric, since it never needs to be entered with a keyboard or touchscreen unlike other bluetooth devices... it's generally the ones that don't have their own interface (headsets and junk) that have four-digit PINs. For example when connecting a cell to my PC for bluetooth tethering the pin is like 6 digits or something alone.

There has to be a way to log the communication between the controller and system somehow. If only I had one/both of those lol

Looks like people have already been able to get windows to recognize the WiiU pro controller as a "gaming controller". All we need is someone to write drivers!

Totally looking forward to those drivers. I've always been fed up with the Xbox's crappy dpads, and resorted to using bluetooth, and also using this.

What about using a Dualshock 3 via bluetooth or USB , or using a Dualshock 1 or 2 controller via a PS1/2 to USB adapter.
the Playstation controllers have decent Dpads.

I don't have any PS controllers. :P
I'd much rather have a PS3 than an Xbox, but it came with my PC.

I hate Sony's dpads, it doesn't feel like one, it feels like 4 separate buttons
Nothing beats good old Nintendo cross or the Genesis/Saturn one (best dpad ever)

the Wii U Pro controller would be perfect for Nintendo emulators
