I was actually kinda kidding about the decompiling Minecraft Classic because I assumed publishing something based on that would have legal issues. If you have legit access to the original source code, though or it's more open sourced than I thought that sounds promising.

Just playing around I decompiled it myself and just tried to compile the source I got (in Java) but I got errors :P They look like simple errors but I didn't really do more than that with it.

The basic syntax is pretty similar but, of course, you're using different libraries and stuff so it would take a little more knowledge of than what I have.

(What would be REALLY cool would be if someone would even just create some some C++ library with all of Java's built in functions and have that just call a corresponding C++ function for Wii and have an instant translation of ANY Java app ... but I know I'm dreaming.)

Great to see you've made some progress with this. Never tried minecraft myself on PC, just saw a friend playing it. Such a success leave me perplex though, I imagine it has to do with the retro trend(the same that made a lot of people buying space invaders shirts). But yes, the game seems fun and that'd be cool to have a clone for the Wii.

Starting to code it from zero will surely be a hard task and will require a lot of work. You seem to be using GRRLIB which is great. Last time I tried it, making a very simple 2d game was rather easy. Not sure about the 3d functions to create the engine would be so simple. There is no collision detection for 3d for example in GRRLIB, but there are other libs (Bullet?).

I don't know if someone tried it but I read on a french forums(no link cause I don't like it) that you can launch DScraft with DeSmuMe Wii. Maybe it's worth a try waiting for a playable demo of Wiicraft.
Anyway, good luck filfat!

I'm really skeptical about all of that... but excited at the same time. It's been kind of a wet dream of mine since I bought Minecraft back in early Alpha to be able to play it on my Wii :D

I'd offer you all of my help but like most of us here I'm more of an homebrew user than programmer.

Err, What do you want exactly? money or help for the project?
You had some good advices from competent and nice people on Wiibrew (using Wire3D, SDL, begin with a less complex project?).
Anyway, I tried your 0.4 and that's why I wonder if it's a joke to earn some $.
If it's not the only goal (put a fucking add for nothing!), I'm sorry, and will try to help if not good luck...

By lunching the app? How is that a hidd... oh. Because like, nobody in his right mind would bother trying both the 0.2 and 0.4 versions of that ridiculous parody of an homebrew application? Shit, that sure is a well hidden secret location. Well played you joyful band of wanna be cyber-thieves.

No need to be a dick about it dude. This is a huge project, and you expect it to be playable after a few days?

I would have expected blocks.. or like at least one.. whatever. I'll admit I've been a bit of a phallus alright, it just disappointed me that the 0.4 worked even less than the 0.2 from a few days ago. Soooorrrryyyy gaiz.

So filfat, about my Wii:

4.3u (3 or 4 years old white Wii)
I load from USB, NTFS (1 Tera)

For the rest I'll have to go boot it up for a syscheck and further test of the app, i'll bring in the results later today!

for what it's worth, I think he sincerely does want to make it a good game, he's been asking for help a lot and while it's definitely not a great idea for a first project (and god knows this is one heck of a euphemism) I don't think he's doing this for a quick buck.
