Excellent list Nakata, but you keep your CPS2 and Neo-Geo games in the same folder as all the rest of the FBA roms? Yikes!

Of course, they all work great with the fba core. I like having all the arcade stuff in one folder ;)

what core do you use to get the other games to run? like the konami games for example?

I separate the CPS2 and Neo-Geo files in different folders so I can easily differentiate which is which and switch cores accordingly, but I'm noticing you don't actually have to do that since they load fine with the full FBA core and you're probably going to have to restart in between game switches regardless

As for Konami and the other games, you have to use the full FBA core.

Concerning savestates:
Is it possible to add a savestate (srm) path in the next release?
Means a path in which retroarch shall write and read the savestates for a particular game.
At the moment all states are inside the according roms folder (and the paradox thing, retroarch is not always recognizing them)

edit1:
In general it would be great to define several parameters in the cfg.
Like savestate (srm) path, bios path, save freeze (frz) path... etc.

just a simple question about the neo geo,the psp has mutch less ram than the wii,but can load 25+mo roms,it seems to be the same for the ds,and the psp use a fragmented fba core just like this emulator, but they load the roms partialy on the go. i would like to know if it is possible to implement those fonctions for the neo geo on the wii? thanks you.
edit: i know how it work now basicaly: they use a executable to butcher the roms ,so they can load ,both of them do it (neods,MVSPSP,fba4psp) i think it is a good idea.

I think a better solution would be to create cache files for games that are too large to fit into RAM.

Actually only the first-gen PSP (1000) has 32MB of RAM, the rest have 64MB of system RAM, same as the Wii.
actualy i was refering to the original psp 1000 , but i mentioned too the ds,and it fits too.
in fact those details dont realy mater,if the later psp have same ram amount it is perfect,so it can be used.

true this is what does the psp from the tutorial i read^^ sinse after butchering the rom it create cache folders.
thx for your answers i guess it is the good way.
edit: i see nintendo released as vc metal slug 3,and it is ones of the bigest neo geo games,so it is possible to load large games on wii with some tricks.

I joined the site to congratulate the team on the wonderful job they have done on this emulator. I am thoroughly enjoying it and have all of my CPS1, CPS2, Neo Geo and Konami games working!

It would be great to get some of the larger Neo Geo games supported I agree, it can be done as stated by tailslol about Metal Slug 3 on Nintendo Virtual Console. They also have The Last Blade 1 and 2, KoF '97, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and Metal Slug X working. Fingers crossed for larger Neo Geo ROM support in a future release.

I get the feeling Metal Slug 3 on the VC is modified in some capacity, the original game is 76MB and the wad is 48MB.

i just wish some konami games where final burn alpha... (looking at you asterix and wild west cowboys of moo mesa.)

Hello everybody, amazing work with this marvel named retroarch!!
I wonder if saving hiscores is going to be implemented.
Does anyone knows if there is a way to save changes made to nvram? (red blood in metal slug for example). Everytime I restart I lose those changes.
Finally, if I can configure controls for loose games, like SF2, that have different combination to the rest of CPS, this emu will be perfect to me!

looked other forum about it,it is just nintendo using new type of crypted compresion with incredible compresion rate(easily decompressible but hard to recompress) so not usable for injection yet but when decompressed the game is full indeed .

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special loads fine in GxGeo but not in Retroarch, it would be great if it was supported in the next version. GxGeo has sound issues unlike Retroarch which is faultless for Neo Geo.

Has anyone else been able to get Mother 3 to work? I keep getting a code dump. Mednafen works well for it.

It's a known issue, as the game causes VBA-Next to have crash (memory leak?), but has been reported to be fully working in the next version, which hasn't been released yet.

Before somebody inevitably asks, no, we didn't release 0.9.8 beta 1. The beta code currently has some regressions in it. We don't make releases for beta builds. EmuCR is a bad website.

Okay, thanks for the info. I was wondering if this was only happening to me. I'll be on the lookout for the next update whenever it comes out.

Until then, thanks for the hard work! I'm enjoying it since Terranigma works well.
