I decided to buy a tablet and am currently comparing. It's really hard to decide. The Nexus 7 looks great, but how is it against Galaxy Tab tablets? What other good tablets are there in the 200 - 250€ price range?
So it's really the best for its price?Nexus 7
What do you think about the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? I could get that for 220€.
That sounds reasonable! I think I'll go pick one up this afternoonWhat do you think about the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? I could get that for 220€.
Honestly?
Go for the Nexus 7.
Quad-core Tegra 3 vs TI OMAP dualcore.
No annoying (personal..) Touchwiz UI
Better screen resolution: 1280 x 800 vs 1024 x 600
More bang for buck.
AFAIK rooting is also useful if you want to install vanilla Android or a modded rom to get updates earlier and to remove bloatware. I don't think that'll be needed on a Nexus though.I want to buy a tablet too, but I didn't check what's available yet nor the price range.
It will be for my father who is new to Internet and technology.
I suppose nexus 7 is a good one. A little more expansive than I decided to put, but it's maybe worth it for current and future use.
I'm curious about rooting.
What's the main interest?
I've read "backup & restore the system". Is a restore often needed?
knowing it's for someone who is not familiar with a computer, he may break things which require a restore?
It requires Wifi AP to connect to internet, or does it use a phone/3G?
I'm curious about rooting.

The 300T is what I've got. I quite enjoy it.So it's really the best for its price?Nexus 7
The asus transformer 300t is not in my price range.
Given that Nexus devices are vanilla Android, that first reason would be irrelevant. Still nice to root though.AFAIK rooting is also useful if you want to install vanilla Android or a modded rom to get updates earlier and to remove bloatware.
